Mannone is as shit and mistake prone as Fabianski(was, he hasn't made any big mistakes in his current run) and Almunia. You just haven't seen enough of him.
Try watching the highlights of Italy U21's vs Belarus U21's. Mannone got raped.
Szczesny is only proven in League 1. Even for the Polish U-20 sides he hasn't been impressive. I prefer Kurto and Sandomierski to play.
As for Almunia, I am convinced that Fabianski has taken over as #1. And Almunia hasn't been impressive this season, he has had a few "ok" games in a series of crap games. Fabianski has proven alot more this season than Almunia has.
And as for Fabianski "completely changing", well no. He is just playing like he used to at Legia Warszawa. He was like today consistently before he moved to Arsenal. Hell, even Wenger consistently says Fabianski is great in training. If Fabianski continues on this form, than I am convinced he is back to old Fabianski. (and I mean before Arsenal old)
@TorresxVilla, Fabianski played sporadically before this season. Goalkeepers need to play consistently to gain form and do good, which is exactly what happened to Fabianski this season following his run. His sporadic appearances last season led to results like Porto. I don't think we will see much more Porto's from Fabianski in the near future. His lack of confidence could also be linked to his lack of consistent appearances.
Regarding Fabianski himself... His next step is consistency, he needs to play at this level from now on. He did so at Legia, so I think he'll be able to at Arsenal as well. What we really must see though, is how will Fabianski react to his next mistake? Will his form and confidence collapse, or will he react positively and play at a high level the next game?
