Post by ResurrectionRooney Thu Dec 08, 2011 5:11 am

Liverpool Football Club have been charged by The FA with failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, following the dismissal of Jay Spearing.

The charge is in relation to Liverpool’s Premier League fixture at Fulham on 5 December 2011. The club has until 4pm on Monday 12 December to respond to the charge.

Luis Suarez has also been charged following an incident in the same game. The Liverpool player is charged with improper conduct, in relation to an alleged gesture made towards the Fulham fans at the end of the fixture.

The player has until 4pm on Monday 12 December to respond to the charge

Suarez charge is fair enough he should be fined for his gesture but the club is a bit harsh. As long as the FA are consistent.

I did think the Liverpool players reaction to Spearing's dismissal was a bit excessive, crowding the referee like that, but could see why they did it. They all clearly saw that Spearing got the ball and felt that the red was unjustified.

However, other teams do this on a regular basis when decisions don't go their way, namely Chelsea and Man United players. Are these charges normal? Can someone answer me that, as I'm actually not in the know.

Fair enough that Suarez has been charged for flipping the bird. But why do other players not get charged for this?

9 May 2011: Manchester United and England player Wayne Rooney is photographed and videotaped making a clear V-sign toward Chelsea fans. FA decides not to take action.

17 December 2007: Chelsea and England player Ashley Cole is photographed making a clear V-sign toward Arsenal fans. There is no immediately available record of the FA taking any action.

19 January 2010: Manchester United and England player Gary Neville is photographed clearly extending a middle finger toward Manchester City's Carlos Tevez in full view of fans, at the end of a heated local derby. There is no immediately available record of the FA taking any action.

There's the hard part done for you. Now do your jobs. Find out whether Cole and Neville were punished -- Cole for doing precisely what Suarez is accused of, Neville for doing something similar and surely no more excusable.

If you find that they were indeed punished, then inform us, and demand the same for Suarez.

If you find that they were not, demand equal treatment for Suarez, regardless of the fact that he is your pantomime villain and does not play his international football for England.

    Why only charge Suarez?

Also, V signs have numerous meanings, including "2" "Victory" and "Peace" to someone behind you. There's no ambiguity over what a middle finger means.

Was towards an opposing player who made no complaint about it, don't know if that had any influence. What do you think the reason is that Neville got away with it and Suarez isn't?

I'm just wondering why the FA seem to have double standards.

It's not the media who've charged him though, it's the Football Association. All the media did was display the picture of Suarez making an obscene gesture towards fans, in the same way they did with Neville. Obviously the circumstances are a bit different.

It's funny, I never saw you guys complaining when Rooney was the victim of media campaigns against him.

Wouldn't mind about this if the FA stuck to it.

Balotelli not charged for kicking the dressing room door though

Rooney not charged for kicking a player several times whilst the player was on the ground, Utd players also hounding the ref against Newcastle.

I hate when players crowd the ref or linesman.

Like for the Hernandez penalty at Ewood Park last season none of them knew if it was or it wasn't a pen then loads of United players came over crying and Jar Jar Binks kicked off like a little baby and got his way Neutral
