Lucas thinks he'll be out for six months

He's basically the heart and soul of Liverpool football club. I can't say I'm sad that he's suffering, I don't really care, but I'm glad that Liverpool won't have their best player for over 8 months. Maybe Chelsea had the right idea about how to treat the Carling Cup.

He will never be a starter for Liverpool.

You can not seriously be suggesting Spearing has the quality to cover for Lucas? I watched the game last night and the guy was struggling recieving and finding passes. you'd be better off dropping Carroll down there, his technique might be poor, but at least he can pass....
Shut up, I never said he had the quality to cover for him, you've watched him for one game, while me and other Liverpool fans have watched him for basically his whole first team career. He had a run of a few games last season, and he looked fine. I didn't see the game yesterday so I can't really comment on how he did. And if you look at the second part of my post.. I said that I can't really think of any good holding midfielders, so spearing was my only answer, I'm sure there are better people who we could buy, and as for your comment about Carroll playing there, you're an idiot if you rate Carrolls passing over spearing based on one game..
I am not basing it on one game. When I saw spearing play for the first time he was 18 or something, and back then looked a good prospect. Since then I have not seen a single match where he has shown anything to suggest he can become a player worthy of a club like Liverpool. He hasn't developed notably, his passing is nowhere near being good enough and although he might do well for a lower table club, he simply isn't Liverpool quality. He works hard and thats admirable, but his passing, positioning and on the ball ability is severly lacking.
As for Carroll, clearly that was a joke. But for a big physical target man he is surprisingly accurate with his passes. Saw it plenty of times with Newcastle, and seen it a few times with Liverpool too. Which I guess is why he was such a good targetman for the geordies.
You don't have any players who can cover for Lucas, but Adam and Henderson are far better options than Spearing. I might expect too much, but I honestly do not see spearing to be the quality a club like Liverpool should "settle" for.

Jay Spearing is a shitty little gnome, Darron Gibson is a far better player, maybe you could take him on loan?

Really hope it isn't that long. The lad has been instrumental for us this season and would leave a massive hole to fill in the midfield.

The sooner people realise he's as capable with the ball pass to his feet than knocked up long to him the better.
Don't think he'll be out for that long, haven't seen what happened but heard he carried on a bit, so shouldn't be that bad.

True, playing on when you've suffered an injury usually makes it better.

Hmm, did his ACL then, looked like it when he came off and out for six months basically means ruptured ACL + meniscus, six months are an awful long time, not sure if we'll see him play like he did again in this season.
Spearing would be good to put on the bench, he's purely defensive, very poor technically and passing wise, an area where Lucas vastly improved, but knows how to put a tackle in and he will be a little pain in the ass for all opposing flair players/playmakers that cross his area. Liverpool will definitly need to strenghten there though if they want to challenge for 4th, Sissoko would be great for them (no the one they already had ).

means nothing, lots of players are able to continue with ruptured ACL. example:Sammys_Tekkers wrote:Don't think he'll be out for that long, haven't seen what happened but heard he carried on a bit, so shouldn't be that bad.Laurencio wrote:

You would really settle for Spearing as your holding midfielder for the most 'crucial' part of the season?
I would personally say Coquelin is better than Spearing, and if Song were injured for the best pat of a season, I wouldn't even feel comfortable handing Coquelin that much responsibility.

I can't see you doing that well without Lord Lucas of Leivashire.
