What's so funny? If Israel and Iran get in a war WW3 is quite a possibility.

I feel like modernized weapons/missiles/bombs are too powerful to allow for a WWIII.

No, it fucking is not. I'm tired of dunces who don't understand the current state of world affairs saying that.

Yes, because Russia, China and the vast majority of Arab states who hate Iran are going to join and help them, right? No. If anything, they'll just use the attack as a political tool.

Juve, Ahly has a bit of a point though. WW1 started through Germany yes, but that was mainly because of alliances that got everyone involved like a domino effect.
Don't think it's even close to that whatsoever though, wouldn't rule it out though

Re: Gaza attack
I understand, but I just don't see a superpower intervening on Iran's behalf, even if the US backed up a potential Israeli attack through the use of military force. They wouldn't have anything to gain from it.
I hope a potential conflict is avoided at all costs. One of the worst case scenarios would be Israel bombing some places in Iran and causing a giant shitstorm, further deepening the divide between the two nations for decades to come. Israel would have to tread carefully though due to the fact that a lot of people in Iran aren't even supportive of their own government, and it would be stupid to turn those people into supporters of that regime. Not to mention, Iran also has a number of long range missiles at its disposal. Israel would also be complicating things closer to home, because an Israeli attack on Iran would give legitimacy to the Hezbollah in Lebanon because they could say, 'Look, more examples of Israeli aggression'.

Re: Gaza attack
Yeah, I don't think China and Russia would necessarily stop selling weapons to Iran (aside from WMDs). But I doubt that they'd actually intervene in another manner.

its not about selling, it just making sure the right leader stays in place.

Re: Gaza attack
How else would Russia and China ensure that the right leader remained in power, if not through the selling of arms/economic partnerships? They could of course veto a potential strike against Iran by forces other than Israel, but the latter isn't going to go through the process of asking the UN or the Security Council for permission.
Edit: I get what you're saying. Went over my head.

Why does the rest of the world seem to respect Clinton so much? Shit goes down and he just shows up and gets diplomacy done somehow.

I expected most in here to conveniently gloss over the terrorist attack and defend it still.
Say what you want about the situation, at least the Israelis don't target civilians like the Palestinians do. They attempt to kill military targets, not just civilians like the Palestinians do.

And how would you know that? It's interesting how Israel don't target civilians but manage to kill significantly more civilians and children than Hamas.
