A Song of Ice and Fire (SPOILERS, SPOILERS EVERYWHERE)

Post by Guest on Tue May 08, 2012 11:29 pm

A discussion thread for the book series shifty

Estimates are that book 6, The Winds of Winter, won't be finished until 2014-2015.

It'd be better to use spoilers when talking about anything from book 3 and onwards so as not to ruin the plot for people who are watching the TV series.

By the Time the sixth book comes out we'll be up to that season Laughing

I'm currently in AKOC, this series is amazing, probably the best piece of "fantasy" content that I've ever read/watched/played.

    1. Has anyone read the prequels? I heard they shine some light on the series.

    2.
    Spoiler:
Oberyn Martell. Biggest badass in the series. Anyone concur?

    3.
    Spoiler:
That new Targayren kid that showed up. What the hell?

    Spoiler:
Somehow I think she'll take it well once she gets over the shock. The Targaryens loved their brother-sister marriages after all.

I'm also looking forward to what Arya will become once her training is done. I have a feeling she's going to be quite dangerous.

Just finishing A Clash of Kings, can't wait to see how the writers of GoT do the Battle at Blackwater rush.

Also, Dany was pretty horrible in this book, outside the house of the undying incident nothing happened, can see why the writers made the change to steal the dragons. Will probably buy the third book soon.

I didn't read the first book because I watched the TV series. You could just wait for series 2 to end then start from book 3 or read book 2 if you really want to.

Start with Game of Thrones, I did, it's a very good book and while the first season was good at translating it to TV, the book is much more detailed and in depth.

So pretty much that god is real? Seems that R'hllor (whatever) and the Old Gods (cause of the children of the forest) are the only "real" gods so far.

    Spoiler:
The Wall Climb scene was tense, will definitely want to see that translated into tv. Also, can't believe that Jamie's hand was cut off. Martin is fucking ruthless.

Finally getting a chance to read a hundred pages or so, haven't really had free time past few days.

Is magic amplified because the dragons have returned?
    Spoiler:
Thoros never was able to resurrect the dead before, but he's done it to Beric a few times, and now he can set his sword on fire through flame.
