Smalling does it for Manchester United. If you can do it there, you can do it anywhere.

It's not exactly harder to do it for a team with the best players around you.

Well if Phil Jones plays in defense, then the only change would be Ashley Cole for Left Back, and he's argueably better than Evra. In front of him it wouldn't be too difficult to have a Carrick - Wilshere - Cleverly set up if desired. It's not like Nani tracks back that often...

yes.. of nothing. I was going to write a lineup, but then I just decided to drop it and just write what I wrote below. But I forgot to remove the top part.

I addressed these people in the last sentence.

I'm guessing that they're the ones who say "Johnson can't defend" and "Good going forward, gets caught out at the back though". And then you put Micah fucking Richards in your side? Seriously? There is no bigger culprit of poor positioning than that lad, only difference is, with Glen being in the spotlight, as Liverpool and England right back, it gets played up so much, whereas with Richards, it gets completely ignored. Johnson might have 10 solid games, then he makes 1 mistake, and everyone is talking about it, Richards can be shaky for a whole month, goes on a good run going forward, and he'll get loads of praise. Some of you would be much better off watching players for yourselves before forming your opinions. I'm not saying you're all like that, I'll hand it to you, some of you watch them plenty of times yourselves and are still clueless. Remarkable.
That's exactly why I didn't include either of them. Jones and Smalling are both all round better defenders.
Smalling is better than Jones, and by next summer, he'll probably be first choice centre back.
Jones is't as good as Johnson.

Danny wrote:I wouldn't start either Richards or Johnson. I'd go for either Jones or Smalling- doesn't matter which to me, both are fantastic. Neutral

Just Johnson is injured now, and I don't like him, so I put in Richards. Dry Smile

I thought this was for the Euros? shifty

I'd rather have Smalling on the right than either of them tbh. But if I had to chose between them I'd go with Richards at the moment.

Richards over Johnson would just be silly though, Johnson is better on the ball, better dribbler, better crosser, better passer, better defender too, the only thing Richards has on him is strength.

Lux wrote:Richards is a tank, I don't care about plaudits say I've always thought he is better than Johnson.

So many comments like this too, "he's a tank" or "he's a beast", I don't give a shit how big he is, I'm talking about footballing ability, and when it comes down to it, Johnson is a better right back than Richards. It's so rare to see anyone talk about Richards the footballer, it's always "Richards the tank", "The Beast" or "The Monster", if he was the best English right back available, surely there is more to say about him, rather than the size of his biceps.

    Not Loach :wall2:

He really isn't that good, we have had to drop him in favour of an average League 1 goalkeeper as he kept making mistakes.

I wish we accepted the £2m or so bids we got from Spurs. Hope we can get something like that again.
