Why bother with Glen Johnson when you have Ricards, Smalling and even Jones that can play both CB and RB?

What?
Majority of the time he is class for Spurs, hardly ever puts a foot wrong. You can't really put the 8 goals early on this season just on him, would be very harsh.

Probably because he's injured (again) and all the centre backs mentioned are better.easley91 wrote:What?

The keepers should be Joe Hart, Andy Lonergan and Paul Robinson.

I say they bring Nigel Martyn out of retirement and get him to play.

Re: Name your 23-man squad for England
Hart, Stockdale, Loach
Richards, Terry, Cahill, Jones, Smalling, Cole, Baines
Gerrard, Cleverley, Wilshere, McEachran, Muamba, Chamberlain, Young, Johnson, Sinclair
Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge, Bent
We're not going to win this anyway so I'd much rather we blooded in some of the younger generation and gave them a feel for the tournament atmosphere. Struggling on central midfielders and attackers though. Also would like to include Walker and Walcott but not really sure how.
I'd play
Richards, Terry, Cahill, Jones, Smalling, Cole, Baines
Gerrard, Cleverley, Wilshere, McEachran, Muamba, Chamberlain, Young, Johnson, Sinclair
Welbeck, Rooney, Sturridge, Bent

And I'd swap Welbeck for Rooney in the first 3 games.Smalling - Jones - Terry - Cole
Cleverley - Gerrard - Wilshere
Sturridge - Rooney - Young

Personally, i'd like us to blood some of the younger players into the international scene and see how they do.
Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Jack Butland, David Stockdale

Midfielders: Adam Johnson, Stewart Downing, Jack Wilshere, Scott Parker, Tom Cleverly, Ashley Young, Jack Rodwell,
Forwards: Darren Bent, Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney, Andy Caroll, Daniel Sturridge.

Robbo what a legend Wish we kept him to be honest, but I think he needed a change. White Hart Lane isn't the same with 'England's no.1' being chanted behind him.

Re: Name your 23-man squad for England
Surprised at the amount of people who think Micah Richards is better than Glen Johnson, it's got to be said, the amount of you lot who lap up whatever pundits tell you is unbelievable. I'm guessing that they're the ones who say "Johnson can't defend" and "Good going forward, gets caught out at the back though". And then you put Micah fucking Richards in your side? Seriously? There is no bigger culprit of poor positioning than that lad, only difference is, with Glen being in the spotlight, as Liverpool and England right back, it gets played up so much, whereas with Richards, it gets completely ignored. Johnson might have 10 solid games, then he makes 1 mistake, and everyone is talking about it, Richards can be shaky for a whole month, goes on a good run going forward, and he'll get loads of praise. Some of you would be much better off watching players for yourselves before forming your opinions. I'm not saying you're all like that, I'll hand it to you, some of you watch them plenty of times yourselves and are still clueless. Remarkable.

That's exactly why I didn't include either of them. Jones and Smalling are both all round better defenders.Jay wrote:Surprised at the amount of people who think Micah Richards is better than Glen Johnson, it's got to be said, the amount of you lot who lap up whatever pundits tell you is unbelievable. I wouldn't start either Richards or Johnson. I'd go for either Jones or Smalling- doesn't matter which to me, both are fantastic.
Just Johnson is injured now, and I don't like him, so I put in Richards.

I'd rather have Smalling on the right than either of them tbh. But if I had to chose between them I'd go with Richards at the moment.

Richards is a tank, I don't care about plaudits say I've always thought he is better than Johnson.
At international level, I'm not sure that Smalling can do it at right back. I would have thought Jones could....but he was disappointing vs Montenegro. Only one game but, he is young and has a long way to go.

Smalling does it for Manchester United. If you can do it there, you can do it anywhere.

It's not exactly harder to do it for a team with the best players around you.
