So Carrick always makes backward passes? Sure it's a Myth or would you like to back it up? As Michael Carrick has played more forward passes than sideways or backwards, this season.

We weren't exactly brilliant V Benfica but look at this stat - Carrick had more touches than anyone, had 92% pass success and won 100% of his aerial battles vs Benfica.

Not pinning all the success down to Carrick but he was an influential player, still is and helped us with our success. You don't stay at United for 5 years, playing regularly if you're shit, do you?

Because he slows the game down you think this is bad? You think we can always play at 100miles an hour? This isn't Fifa this is real life. You need to slow the tempo down sometimes to keep the ball, calm down and then spread it around.

Carrick did have a bad patch a few seasons ago but he's actually played well lately, something people wont praise him for because they are so use to using him as a scapegoat. When something goes bad the first person people will blame will be Carrick even though he isn't his fault. Neutral

maybe those passes were at a 88 degree (from his point of view) or similar angle...it's still forward though right!

Even if he did pass the ball backwards and sideways all of the time there is nothing wrong with it. Keeping possession is better than losing it and it's obvious Man U's creativity is mostly on the wings.

Carrick has been carrying Fletcher for two years as well, not surprising he's not done so well.

Oh yeah i've heard about that, his contract runs out at the end of the season so wouldn't be too bad a risk if we were to go for him.

Moscow's spot on. Cleverley's already said that he wants to be able to slow games down at times and have more control over them.

One of our players who can do that/do it, is....

    You guessed it, Carrick. Neutral

I was extremely impressed with our performance on Tuesday night. We employed a ruthless mentality and assured that we exited with the win. There was absolutely no way we were going to let Leeds embarrass us again: that simply was not going to happen.

I was particularly impressed with the performance of Berbatov as a centre back. Many call him lazy and assume that he can only play in one position; however I think that this proves he is a versatile player.

Wouldn't happen. Ronaldo would shoot end the attack every time he got the ball(either a goal or into keepers hands/crowd.
