Does anybody here pronounce his surname like that? No.
Most people will either say Chesney or Si-shezny.

It's weird but it doesn't mean that it's not the right way of pronouncing it. There's only one correct way to pronounce a name.

Which way do you say it?

There's only one correct way to say a name, but most people aren't used to other languages' pronunciation.

That doesn't really matter. I may or may not say it incorrectly because it doesn't matter. A commentator, on the other hand, is obligated to attempt to pronounce it the correct way because it's his job. Do you see what I mean? Good 'ole Jela, though, seems to think that everyone in an English speaking country should pronounce it Cazorla otherwise they're cretins which is why his idiotic posts belong in the Hall of Shame.

Oh right, yeah I dont mind commentators pronouncing it the correct way.. but if I was talking to my mate and he said Cathorla I'd find it weird

I say Cazorla but the correct pronunciation is Cathorla. Nothing can change that.

There are examples where words/names will 'evolve' and take on another pronunciation. Such as with Sebastian Coates. Meaning there are two pronunciations for the surname, depending on the language the name is in.

I don't know what his problem is. We all kick off at people/commentators who pronounce David Villa like the football club and not how it's meant to be done, for example. So when they try to pronounce Hazard's as it should be Jela goes nuts..

Re: Hall of Shame
A "z" is only pronounced as "th" in European Spanish. Latin American Spanish speakers pronounce it "normally".

I've never really heard Villa's name pronounced like the club from a commentator.. which is why I pronounce it "Viya" myself

I don't get why a lot of people only make the effort with Villa and pronounce David like they would for David Beckham

Re: Hall of Shame
Wait, let me get this straight. Jela is criticising the commentators for pronouncing it properly and then says it doesn't matter how it's pronounced?
Jela, you have not changed one bit.

Re: Hall of Shame
Commentators always have to attempt to pronounce it properly or else the general public is going to start pronouncing it improperly.

Typical, people always trying to find faults in my posts and twist the words, to make me sound stupid even though they know exactly what I'm talking about.
As I said, anybody that calls him 'azar' when talking to their mates, is just silly. The english pronunciation is exactly the way it looks, Hazard. Then, somebody tries to claim that I was saying their name changes in every country, even though that couldn't possibly come from what I was saying.
I know what I meant, you know what I mean and that is good enough for me.

Can't think of anything constructive to say, so bombs out a barrage of nonsense. Again, typical. Pretty much what you've done all night.
Stop trying to act cool and pipe down when you've evidently no idea what you're talking about.

Like for instance how 'Cahill' is pronounced differently in Ireland.

Re: Hall of Shame
Imo commentators should pronounce player names the way they're pronounced in the country they're from. Pronouncing it as "Cathorla" is good imo since he's from Spain, I also heard German and Swiss commentators pronouncing Bobadilla's name as "Bobadisha" since it's pronounced that way in Argentina where he's from.

You called people cretins for basically being right. That's what's wrong.
