It's weird but it doesn't mean that it's not the right way of pronouncing it. There's only one correct way to pronounce a name.

A commentator, on the other hand, is obligated to attempt to pronounce it the correct way because it's his job. Do you see what I mean? I say Cazorla but the correct pronunciation is Cathorla. Nothing can change that.

There are examples where words/names will 'evolve' and take on another pronunciation. Such as with Sebastian Coates. Meaning there are two pronunciations for the surname, depending on the language the name is in.

I don't know what his problem is. We all kick off at people/commentators who pronounce David Villa like the football club and not how it's meant to be done, for example. So when they try to pronounce Hazard's as it should be Jela goes nuts..

A "z" is only pronounced as "th" in European Spanish. Latin American Spanish speakers pronounce it "normally".

I've never really heard Villa's name pronounced like the club from a commentator.. which is why I pronounce it "Viya" myself

I don't get why a lot of people only make the effort with Villa and pronounce David like they would for David Beckham

Wait, let me get this straight. Jela is criticising the commentators for pronouncing it properly and then says it doesn't matter how it's pronounced?

Jela, you have not changed one bit.

Commentators always have to attempt to pronounce it properly or else the general public is going to start pronouncing it improperly.

Like for instance how 'Cahill' is pronounced differently in Ireland.

Imo commentators should pronounce player names the way they're pronounced in the country they're from. Pronouncing it as "Cathorla" is good imo since he's from Spain, I also heard German and Swiss commentators pronouncing Bobadilla's name as "Bobadisha" since it's pronounced that way in Argentina where he's from.
