Ben's Crawley Thread

Not got off to the greatest start, in my first competitive match I lost 3-0 to AFC Wimbledon. That's me out of the Carling Cup before it's even started and a lot of potential money gone.

But dayumm, look at this friendly result;



I'll post transfers when I've finished making them.

I'm interested in this, I'd like to see how far you can take us! If you want any advice about Crawley or have any questions just ask and I'll see what I can do.

Well basically, what does your starting XI usually look like and which positions are weak?



That's what I've got now, there are a few other Crawley players who are injured or whatever but I've (hopefully) improved the defence quite a bit and bought a few wide players.

Well without the signings you made IMO our best side is something like:

Kuipers
Wilson McFadzean Mills Howell
Davies Hunt Akpan Torres
Tubbs Barnett

Weak area I'd say is probably right back.

Yeah I think I made a few too many transfers, I've changed around nearly the entire defence and it seems it's taking them a while to settle.

Yeah that's the thing, defaulted we already made many transfers, loads more and the more unsettled they are. Once the summer transfer window is over you can then get on with it and they should in time gel and settle.

Yeah exactly, the problem was the ratings hadn't improved really so most of the team were still Conference quality

I think I'm going to wait til FM 2012, our ratings should be much better then. Early days yet, early days.

You seem to win nearly every week! Back-to-back promotions possibly?

Very possible if we win every home game, look so comfortable at home. Don't think many if any will get points off us at the Broadfield.

We've won every home game so far this season, and I don't think we've lost a home match in any competition for quite a while.

Ahh impressive stuff, yeah I went to a game when I was in Crawley waiting for a flight from Gatwick at Easter and they were dominant.

Nah, I've been out most of the last days and only played 2 more, I drew one and then lost yet another! In 22nd place

Maybe you did make way to many transfers. Nice to hear you came to game as well! Oh and forgot to say yesterday that I saw a lad wearing a Leeds shirt at the game.

Looked at our results from last season, we haven't lost a home league game since Oct 16th 2010 and that was against Newport County. Actual that was our last home defeat in any competition.

Wow that's impressive! Could only long for a record like that with Leeds.

I have no idea, but at Crawley even now we're in League 2, you'll see other club shirts (normally United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc.) But, yesterday I saw a lot of our own shirts and very few others which is a good sign. Means the club is garnering more and more support in the town, and hopefully by the end of the season we should see no other club shirts and only ours.

Ahh yeah you tend to get that further down the leagues actually, what's the capacity of your ground?

In other news, won my first game

4,996 or somewhere around that, just under 5,000. Yes! who was it against and what was the score?

It'll probably need expanding if you get promoted then I take it? 3-1 away against Torquay

It will do, we're meant to be building an all seater east stand at some point so that should do it hopefully.

On FM10 I had Bristol Rovers last for Leeds so I could replay our promotion on the final day.

Your ground seems really good for atmosphere easley, Did anyone see Wimbledons ground yesterday now that is a non league ground!

On it's day, it can have a fantastic atmosphere. You only have to watch the FA Cup ties there, especially the Derby game and when Torres scored the crowd went ballistic. Then there are days where the atmosphere isn't so hot, was a good one yesterday and a lot of people turned up which was great to see.



Annoyingly I couldn't go, was stuck in bed feeling like shite that day.
