Arsenal have already fielded five English players so far this season...

Wilshere, Lansbury, Gibbs, Walcott and Emmanuel-Thomas.

And only two of them get into the team that isn't for the Carling cup..

4 of them Walcott is a regular, Gibbs has been a first team starter since 2008 but wasn't around because of his injuries, Wilshere has became a first team player this season and Emmanuel-Thomas is regularly on the bench.

    No fucking thank you.

I also dont think it would ever happen. Arsenal are really really tight with their wages an I doubt an over-rated and over-payed English player would appreciate the massive pay cut to play for Arsenal.

He will just go to Italy or Spain I bet. Maybe Everton if they had the money.

Van Persie fits Arsenals system better than Rooney would in my oppinion.

I would hardly call him overrated and overpaid. He is only making around £100,000-120,000/week and our highest earner is Cesc at £102,000/week so it wouldn't be a big deal.

To be honest with the amount of time Van Persie is hurt it would be a better value to have someone like Rooney who isn't injured that often.

I still wouldn't want him, but he is a world class player regardless.

He is earning over £150k week though.

And yes he is vastly over-rated (by the English media atleast).

They were saying on tv a few days ago that he would cost ATLEAST £60million and that he would make any starting line up in the world.

    Laughable statement that is.

I see Van Persie more as a "luxury" player for Arsenal.

Since we have many strikers at the club its not too bad with him. I just wish we dont use him for smaller teams and use him for major games only or something like that.

For example we should not have started him against Blackburn (in my oppinion) even though he has a good scoring record against them.

Wouldn't want him at all for Arsenal. Don't get me wrong, he's a fantasic player when on form but he'd never be able to do the same job for us as van Persie or Chamakh does.

He'd drop far too deep in midfield, when we need someone to hold the ball up to create movement and creativity for the players around him. The only place I could see him would be as a CAM when we play our 4-2-3-1 but then I wouldn't want to replace Cesc/Nasri's spot.

Rooney isn't making anywhere near £150,000/week. Not sure where you're pulling that number from, but its very wrong.

Who cares if the media overrated him, when it comes to the actual game, Rooney is not overrated. I don't care that he didn't do much for England in the World Cup, etc. What I care about is that last season he completely owned teams on a regular basis and that is something he is capable of doing with regularity.

I don't know what is going on with him and Ferguson and personally I don't care as long as United keep dropping points, but Rooney would be a good signing for any team in the world, but I still wouldn't want him at Arsenal because we could get a plethora of players for the amount it would take to sign Rooney alone.

Also it would be a pipe dream to think United would sell him to anyone in the EPL.

Also I can't see anyone paying £60M for a player that is only 20 months away from being available for a free transfer. Real Madrid would be stupid enough to pay around £40M and a player for him and City would probably be stupid enough to do it also, but aside from those two he won't go for anywhere near that amount if it is to any other team besides those two clubs.

My bad I was listening to the radio and they said he would not join Arsenal because of his wages. They said he just negotiated a new deal a few days ago that pays him that but on bbc sports it says he said no to a new contract. Donno whats going on there but a transfer (not to Arsenal) but maybe one of the Spanish clubs is quite possible.

Yes he is a world class player I am not denying that but if you watch English tv and stuff, you will soon realise what I mean by over-rated.
I would expect him to sell for £40-£50million though regardless of his contract.

He is one of the most marketed footballers in the world and bringing him to your club will sell you more shirts and bring in many more fans aswell as offering you one of the finest strikers around.
