Tevez, rooney, ronaldo... we were favourites going into the game
and the players like sneijder dont defend so i wouldnt say having them in the team would certainly give us a better chance, they may hinder it

we need modric (or unrealistically Sweinsthehbtedajhrjara) for the big games. but i am more then happy to give cleverley a season to see if he can consistently do it in big games
e wont be winning the CL if we face barca anyway even if we had modric or C.Ronaldo
Don't be stupid, you can't make a statement like that with certainty. What is almost certain is that we would have a better chance or beating them with Modric or Ronaldo or Sneijder than without.
MAdrid have a team full of ready made stars and they cant compete even when they play as perfect as they did in the super cup. in 2009 we had a better team then them arguable and they destroyed us
the only way to beat barca is if they have an off day or messi is injured. CL is luck mostly thats why i dont like buying just to aim for CL
I'm going to try and explain this as simply as I can.
Our chances of winning the Champions League are contingent, by and large, on three things, quality of our team, quality of our manager, and luck. When these things are combined, you get our chances of winning the competition, and on a smaller scale of beating any team. The better our luck, the better our manager, or the better our team, the better our chances are of winning the Champions League. The manager will not be changed, and luck cannot be influenced, that leaves us with the quality of the team being the only variable we have influence over to alter our chances.
The better our team is, the better our chances of beating Barcelona, simple. If you accept that signing Sneijder would make our team stronger then you must also accept that this will improve our chances of winning the UEFA Champions League.
And as for buying to aim for the CL, as I have already outlined, the variables which impact your chances of winning football matches are the same as the ones which impact your chances of winning the CL. The other competitions that we play in are also composed of football matches. Buying to improve the team as much as possible isn't buying specifically to win the CL, it is buying to improve our chances of winning football matches, which improves our chances of winning other competitions.

Fuck saying we were better then. Yes, that's arguably the best squad/team we've ever had, but Barcelona's was something else and hasn't changed massively since then.

I love how clever you try to make this sound when essentially all you are saying is 'buying better players makes you better'

exactly, it was our best team ever probably and we still lost. buying sneijder wouldnt make our team better then 2009
also i agree barca was better then but the media was all saying we were favourites.
and i wish sneijder talk would end, he isnt even the answer. he would only cause disturbance to our team. we need someone that could just fit right in

Barca are better now than in 2009, Messi is older and more experienced, Iniesta too, Afellay/Sanchez/Fabregas have all been added not to mention Villa is better than Ibra. Only downsides are Puyol being more injury prone and Xavi getting less able to play 90 minutes. Oh yeah, Pedro's better too.

Of course they're better now, but there hasn't been massive changes. Only differences in their starting XI really is Pedro and Villa in for Henry and Eto'o.

9 points more in the league last year than in 08/09, and more depth has been added to that squad like I said.

The Glazers now want to sell the naming rights to Carrington I hate when clubs do that. The G&G campaign is starting to resurface now because of the Singapore shares and this will just fuel it even more. Clueless American cunts

Random gossip suggest we might hijack the Nasri deal. I find it incredibly unlikely, but he would strengthen us.

I think we were relying on Wenger being stubborn and keeping hold of him for a year, then snapping him up next summer.

Re: Manchester United FC Official Thread
It really shouldn't be, if we were signing him with 4 years left on his contract we'd pay £50m for him and pay him £100,000 a week anyway, why not take some of that £25m saving and put it in his back pocket?
