actually ivanovic starting career as defensive midfielder
when he go to russia he became centreback but move to rightback in second season
chelsea sign him for rightback but then he showed hes better in centreback
in my opinion ivanovic more suit to centreback but obviously hes pretty good in rightback also. i think chelsea as a club benefit better when he plays rightback because this allow the team to exploit depth in centreback rather than have to start bosingwa(albeit he improve a lot lately) and useless ferreira

Sagna, I would rather have Ivanovic at CB, but both really good players, but Sagna is more suited to the role, I think he has one RB in TOTY Twice now, so no bad. And I have his shirt, so I would say it.

Hope I'm making sense here but as an overall player Ivanovic is better, he is one of the best centrebacks in the league. But all bias aside I would say Sagna is superior at playing right back.

Sagna is a lot better as a Right Back, they both offer about the same defensively and Sagna's a lot better going forward.
I've thought for a while now that Chelsea could do with switching to a 5-3-2 and moving Ivanovic into Centre Back alongside 2 of Luiz, Alex and Terry, as Bosingwa offers a lot more going forward, and it'd let them play with Drogba and Torres upfront, while still playing a reasonably attacking midfield due to the security 3 CBs offer.
