I dont think anyone could think you were rating Messi below Dempsey, but it WAS interesting to see how so-called facts and statistics can also mislead. I was really talking about video being factual, not statistics.drivescore wrote:ahlycotc wrote:
It was just a joke. I don't actually think he is better than Messi because he has scored more goals as of this year.
Your delusion is just amazing

I am a pro cameraman and I always thought video-evidence would be/should be conclusive proof and undeniable fact. As it turns out, I have learned that ppl argue, disagree and form opinions anyway. As they say, "Why let a fact get in the way of an opinion"
In what context?
I don't see how video can provide full-proof evidence in the assessment of a 'dangerous' tackle.
In most cases it can, but not always..

That's true, but only as far as the concept 'dangerous' tackle is being considered a subjective decision... the rules of the game do provide the context in what can be called 'dangerous'. But using so-called video full-proof evidence in this instance is of course highly dependent upon the camera angle as to whether the so-called video can even provide any relevant information at all.El_indian wrote:footballscoutau wrote: I couldnt go past that comment "You cant argue with facts".

I am certainly NOT in favour of the introduction of video into helping a Ref make a decision. The last thing I would want to see is an American Gridiron style referee that consults the video while the crowd is played some music while they wait!!!
What I was getting at was how surprising that "goal-line" type of video that truelly shows exactly what happened can be disputed??? ... and as a camerman I cop my fair share of that sort of criticism when really, it wasn't me playing, and I wasn't the Ref making the call either... all I was doing was taking the pictures!! That's pretty much why I commented on that other comment about "You cant argue with facts"

hmm yeah fair enough, sounds like an awesome job. Do you broadcasts sports?
In my opinion we should have a challenge system similar to Tennis where a team would be allowed to challenge a maximum of 2/3 refereeing calls in a match. I also don't like the idea of the crowd waiting around while music is played so it would need to be done very quickly...somehow

We are hijacking this thread, which I didnt mean... supposed to be about the genius Messi.... (yes, broadcast and also I film elite youth)... and I am totally against using video for any refereeing decisions. The game is fast, exciting the way it is. Even bad decisions are part of it.El_indian wrote:hmm yeah fair enough, sounds like an awesome job. Do you broadcasts sports?

That's fair enough, bad decisions add to the drama.
It can be so cruel though....also the refereeing system is totally flawed.
how did you find out about this forum?

Messi has score more La Liga goals than 11 different La Liga teams have this season.
He is 13 goals away from breaking the Barca record.

How can you have a player doing this and not win the league.

Bad defense and referee mistakes mostly. The league isn't over until the fat lady sings.
Bold statement: Barcelona will come back and win the league.

I keep forgetting that he's only 24-years-old.

@Blade, that's what I was thinking when I was watching it. It's almost like the goal against Arsenal.

So he could hit 60 goals by the end of the season.

If yestarday is a sign of things to come from barca as a whole, their best performance this season, then he'll definitely break the barca record this season, when the teams playing bad, he has to come deep and drag the team up, becoming the creator more than the scorer.
I dont think La liga is definitely over yet, madrid still have some tricky away fixtures having to go to Athletic/Villareal/Osasuna/Atletico as well as obviously having to go to the Nou camp. Its not impossible that with a few dropped points the pressure could get to them, as long as barca win their last 16 games (although they won 16 in a row last season)

Barcelona won't win every away game this season though.
