Looking forward to the game this week against West Brom. It won't be the easiest of games and I'd happily take a scrappy win. I think we'll sneak it 2-1.

So fucking Rafael might have separated his shoulder. That's him and Evra out, if true. Fuck Sneijder, we need to bring back O'Shea.

At least Phil Jones and Smalling can cover RB, and Evans can cover LB, we'll be okay in defence I hope.ResurrectionRooney wrote:kyro7 wrote:Should have never fucking sold him in the first place!ResurrectionRooney wrote:So fucking Rafael might have separated his shoulder. Selling O'Shea was a massive mistake. Excellent squad player who could play anywhere across the defence and nearly everywhere in the midfield as well. He was always key in the run-in.

Yeah I never really got the O'shea and Brown departures. Maybe for Brown because he fell out with Sir Alex but why O'shea? Great squad player and was very dissapointed with the selling of him.

I really hate this sort of pathetic attitude, 'we don't need to compete with Barca', well they're the best team in the world, that's where we want to be, so I'd say looking at them as a benchmark is pretty fucking imperative, wouldn't you?
ahm no, why should we obsess about barca... real madrid should be the ones obsessing about them as they are the ones fighting with them on regular basis
we should be worried about staying top of the english teams, cause in the CL anything can happen. we can beat barca on any day as ca any other team so why bother trying to match them by buying expensive players... who the fuck cares who has the label of best team in the world. grow up
what if we sign all the players you say... and we play barca and lose, then what?? you think sneijder is the difference between us beating barca and not being them? they will still be labeled the best team in the world no matter who we sign. MAdrid have better individual players then us and maybe even barca but in the end that doesnt matter.

Even Brown was a decent squad player. He wasn't going to feature at CB at all, but he could featured at full-back in a game like tomorrow.Kuled wrote:Yeah I never really got the O'shea and Brown departures. That's a bad attitude to have. We shouldn't be relying on anything happening to try and win the Champions League, we should be in a position where we know that we can beat anyone.ViVaRooney wrote:ResurrectionRooney wrote:

Barca arent guaranteed to win the CL either.. nor is any other team. as i said the important thing is staying top of the english clubs. CL is pure luck, you think Inter was the best team in the world in 2010? no chance.
what you people seem to be saying is if we sign a world class CM we will guaranteed to win the CL..?? look at real madrid as i said, they have a FAAAAAAAAR better team then us on paper and yet we are more successful. big names doesnt = winning
in CL anything can happen and the most important thing is being the best in your own league

No, we can't beat Barcelona when it matters right now. Over two legs, we have no chance of going through, in the final we showed that in one match at a neutral venue, they will beat us as well.ViVaRooney wrote:cheesy wrote:That's a bad attitude to have. Inter weren't the best in 2010, but they deserved to win it and with Mourinho in charge, a lot of people gave them a good chance. Their Champions League success had nothing to do with luck.
The Champions League used to be a lot more open and big shocks were a regular occurence, but that isn't what happens anymore. You now only see a few sides in contention each year and I doubt that is going to change anytime soon.

and we are part of the teams in contention
Madrid have spent MILLIONS and MILLIONS and they still cant match barca, we can spend millions and millions and we still wont match barca, the only way any team would match barca is if they bought messi.
i dont get why we should be so obsessed about being better then Barca... who the fuck cares, what matters is trophies. we can buy and buy and we may still lost to barca. football isnt like FIFA

also i am not saying we shouldnt improve, cause we have done with young and Jones
just dont think we need to spend money just to compete with Barca's signings. thats a dangerous game, cause a big money players can easily break a winning formula if he doesnt fit the team.

Yet Real Madrid have more of a chance of challenging Barcelona than we do. They have come a lot closer to Barcelons since they started to spend money. I don't admire that philosophy, but I have nothing against signing one or two big names.ViVaRooney wrote:cheesy wrote:No, we can't beat Barcelona when it matters right now. We should be obsessed about being better than them. We have to be. The Champions League is the biggest competition in world football. We are Manchester United and when we want to win something, we don't just take second best and feel satisfied for it. We have to aim for the top. We have to aim to be the best. Sir Matt Busby always said we were a club that strived for perfection and we have to continue that motto.
You seem to be confused with the last point. Inter Milan were certainly not favourites, but with Mourinho as manager, we knew that they could combat against Barcelona over two legs. They were by far, the best team in the first leg and they delibirately let Barcelona dominate the second leg as they were attempting to defend the lead they already had.

What is the best way to make sure we stay on top of the English teams? Make our side as good as possible. What is the best way to beat Barcelona? Make our side as good as possible. This attitude 'Oh we won the League, we're fine, Barcelona are too good', it's pathetic. Signing Sneijder would give us a better chance of defeating Barcelona because it would improve the team, it'd give us a better chance of beating anyone else as well. I accept that Barca are better than us, and they would be if we signed Sneijder, but that's no reason not to fucking sign him is it? They'll sure as hell be better than us if we bring in Cleverley, Pogba and Welbeck, should we forget about them?

Although i am not a united fan i agree with what you are saying as it seems Fergie is just taking the easy option with bringing through youth and it may work but imo it would be much better if you got Sneijder as he is a proven world class player and would provide the inch perfect passes for Your strikers.

since when is developing youth players the "easy option" WTF!
buying would be the easy option.. and Sneijder doesnt even fit our style/team

Not necessarily the easy option but the cheap option as I rate Cleverley but to put someone like Pogba in at the deep end is risky.

no that is not guaranteed! did veron improve the team?
Fergie wants to give Pogba and Cleverley a chance that they deserve and i am 100% behind that. and only Modric would improve us
It's far from guaranteed that Pogba and Cleverely will improve the team as well, in fact I'd say it's a lot less likely. Do you know how many fucking lauded young players we've had come through who were supposedly going to be the next Beckham, the next Scholes, the next Ronaldo? Do the names David Jones, David Healy, Jonathan Greening, Chris Eagles mean anything to you? Probably not, because they were all lauded players, and when they were put into the first team everyone used a Hansen quote to laugh at people who doubted them (Hansen was right by the way), and they ended up being shit. Darren Fletcher was supposed to be an attacking midfielder, lauded as the next Beckham, he ended up being the next Nicky Butt, Kieran Richardson was hailed as being more talented than Giggs, the next big thing, ended up at Sunderland.
Who was the last youth player we brought through who ended up being as good as Sneijder? Who was the last youth player we brought through who ended up being half as good as Sneijder? John O'Shea, that's who, and that was over 10 years ago, so forgive me if I don't have much fucking faith in kids.
