A better and cheaper solution to Arsenal's CB problem Luke+Chambers+Nottingham+Forest+v+Bristol+y42DEletPwbl

Luke Chambers has proved over the past few years that he is without a doubt, the greatest Centre Back playing outside of the Premier League. It's common knowledge that Arsenal are in desperate need of a new Centre Back, seeing as they've put in bids for Jagielka and have been interested in Cahill. But with those players' respective clubs asking for ridiculously high transfer fees for 2 pretty average players, then should Arsene Wenger look into the Championship, where he would find a defender of equal defensive qualities of Cahill and Jagielka, perhaps even slightly better qualities, but also, with the ability to find the net. In 163 appearances for the Reds, he has managed an impressive 17 league goals, not bad for a player that during his early days was found on the bench and played out of position. 6 of these goals came in the league last season, meaning he scored more than our attacking players such as Chris Cohen, Majewski, Anderson, Tyson, Adebola and more. He is also a leader, something which Arsenal will be lacking once Cesc joins Barca. He has captained every club he has ever been at. Northampton, at the age of 21, and Forest, for 2 of our friendlies this summer, and he looks set to take over the armband permanently from Lee Camp, who is being left to concentrate on retaining his position as the best keeper in the Championship. It would probably take a bid of £15 Million for Arsenal to get our player, but he would be well worth it. He is also going to be an International sensation this season for Republic of Ireland after all documents allowing him to play have been sorted out, so it would be no suprise if some of the top clubs like Inter, Barca and Man Utd came in for him. At the end of the day though there is one stumbling block should Arsenal come in for him. Join a club with no history in Europe, or stay at a club with 2 European Cups to their name? It's no contest, so he'll end up staying with us should you bid for him.

Here's a video of proof, as to how good our player of the season is:

Or just sign Per Mertesacker as he only has one year left on his contract and I doubt Bremen will demand £17m like Bolton are doing for Cahill.

Probably not, but we could use the money to buy another amazing talent or invest it in our youth system, which has created another amazing Centre Back in Michael Dawson. Our next Centre Back talent, Jamaal Lascelles has actually been linked with Arsenal and we've turned a £5 Million bid down apparently. He's only 17 too.

We wouldn't stand a chance of winning anything if he was a starting CB Laughing

He's good for his level but Arsenal ? No.

£15m? Fuck right off will ya Laughing

Per Mertesacker would go for around £7m and he's twice the player this guy is.

Definitely. I'd sell him for £20 Million minimum if i was the Chairman mind, so Arsenal will be getting a fantastic deal. We've learnt not to sell on future International stars for so cheap now after Michael Dawson was let go to Tottenham for only £4 Million. Spurs captain and England regular he is now.

No chance. Vermaelen is one of the best Centre Backs in the league, possibly Europe.

But him and Chambers would form a fantastic partnership, both are good goalscorers. Would probably get around 30 goals between them if Wenger uses the corner glitch

    Just buy Gamberini, sorted Cool

But this lad is a great talent, I think Arsenal should move for him but he isn't going to be playing too much to start with.

26 years old, would be a decent premiership defender but not Arsenal standard.

You're talking about 15-20million for Chambers? And the title says a cheaper option..

We could get Cahill for the same price. Is there really any need to go further?

30 goals between them?! Has any centre back partnership come any close to that figure?
