They wouldn't have been, for a start the 5-0 only occurred at the end of November, and it only put Barca 2.5 points clear, had Real beat them at the Bernebau and all other games been won Real Madrid would have still won the title.

I agree that it's a better League though, Barcelona and Real Madrid beat the piss out of the top English sides this season just as easily as they beat it out of the other top Spanish sides. United played Valencia early last season and were much closer to them than to Barca.

The EPL is more unpredictable than La Liga as the top teams tend to lose more, If Barca were to lose to 10th place Gijon then that would be a huge shock, but Man U losing to Sunderland although it would be a shock to some nowhere near as much as Barca's. The same can be said throughout the entire league Man City lose to Stoke in 13th = Neutral when compared to Valencia losing to Levante Run

Also La Liga has never been competitive between 1948 and 1999 Barca/Madrid failed to win just twelve of 51 titles

Real Madrid lost in the League the same number of times as Manchester United last season. Valencia lost the same number of times as Manchester City. Barcelona only lost twice, true, but a team in England has done that as recently as 2008-09.

I'm talking about the shock factor though, All those losses did cause quite a shock to the supporters, It's not that Madrid and Barca will win the league it's that they seem to be the only teams who can win. Next year you'd be stupid to bet on any other team besides the two to win La Liga, whereas in the EPL Although Man U/Chelsea are the most likely to win you know that Arsenal and Man C will be pushing them all the way and in with a chance themselves, as well as this Spurs/Pool are gonna get into the mix and further confuse things.
