Shay Given to Villa

Think it's good for all parties, Given gets to start, Villa get a pretty good keeper and we get money and don't have to worry about him getting stroppy.

I think Given is probably the right level for Villa, a good top 8 keeper. He's the best at shot stopping imo, but one of the worst in terms in aerial ability.

Any idea of the price?

I've heard like £4m.

He's worth more than that imo, great deal.

Every keeper is a good shot stopper its just the other areas that proves if he's a good keeper or not.

Yeah but Given is the best at shot stopping in the league. I wasn't just saying he was good at it.

It's still good value for them, provided he doesn't have injury problems he could get another 4-5 years of high level play. £4m for that is decent.

yeah, a great deal for them, but I wouldn't say he was worth much more than that.

While I don't think Given is a great player, he is a quality professional and a great guy and I hope he does well with Villa. Funny to think that Given, Dunne and Ireland could all be playing together again.

If he's cost £4m he's not really being given to them is he?

Good buy for Villa, but he's a good shot stopper yes, but can be Hollywood Shay at times, and highly overrated. Good keeper, but overrated too much for people to give him a bad-name.

All I know is he's the most overrated keeper in Premiership history.

All i know is he's a decent GK and could easily start for any team outside of the top 6.

A few keepers are better outside the top 6 but that doesn't mean he's not overrated. People over the years thought he should've moved to a top 4 club

5 year deal, holy fuck. How can you give a 5 year deal to a man who is 35 years old and heavily reliant on his reflexes and agility. This will go down as one of the worst contracts ever offered unless Given turns out to be some sort of freak.

maybe he will mentor the younger keeper coming through.
