Pre-Season Friendlies - Summer 2011

A thread to discuss the friendlies going on around the world this pre-season. How players are performing, how new players are linking up with their teammates and what formations the manger may be trying out.

To get us started, some results from yesterday:

Today we have Liverpool away to Guangdong (1pm, live on LFCTV), Arsenal face a Malaysian All-Stars XI, Sunderland's 9 new signings could make their debut away to York and the Old Firm continue their pre-season with Celtic in Australia and Rangers against Bayer Leverkusen.

Real Madrid's first match is on the 16th and Barcelona don't get underway until July 23rd when they play Hajduk Split.

Joey Barton has been refused a visa, meaning he can't tour USA with Newcastle.

Instead he will link up with Peter Beardsley's reserves when they head for Holland on Thursday.

Ajax is playing against Regensburg, from the 3rd german division.

Next wendsday they will play Brøndby here in Denmark, which i of couse have tickets for. Odd is that the danish league starts on sunday, so the training game / show match is in the middle of the first week which has gotten some fans angry as they are gonna be playing weekend and weekdays from the start of the season because of Europa League

Trabzonspor v Gent on today at 6, should be a good game.
