Just saw on sky sports news if the deal to sell them is not COMPLETED by 15th october (next friday) they will officially go into administration which gets a penalty of a 9 point deduction in the league.

Oh and the other thread that says they are "sold" is lies. They have agreed to sell, that is nowhere near sold. It takes weeks to do the paperwork etc for a house after a sale is "agreed" let alone a football club.

No we COULD! go into it but we won't

There's a chance that we won't go into administration, as the club itself is solvent. But there's also a chance that RBS will waive on the deadline so this can be sorted out.


And yes, the club is everything but sold. The paperwork has been done, and they will be our new owners once the court case has been finished. That's the reason it's being held up.

RBS wouldn't want them to go into administration so the deadline will be moved back. It is in RBS interest to put them in administration when they is potential buyers still interested. The difference with Pompey is there was no one interested.

Totally fails. Administration is not automatic. As has been pointed out, it will be within RBS's discretion. And if RBS sees that a sale has been agreed and only legal technicalities need to be worked out, they are very likely to waive or extend the deadline. RBS would much rather wait a few more weeks for title transfer to occur than start a foreclosure.

Liverpool is going to be fine. Whether by administration or not, they will have new and more reliable owners very soon. Probably in time for the January transfer window. Even if they take a 9 point hit, they ought to be able to avoid relegation.
