    I recently installed a free version of AVG 2011 virus protection, since then whenever I turn on my laptop and it all loads up, this appears:
    Anyone good with computer problems? Problem

    I can also no longer use any programmes like Microsoft Word as all it says is 'Preparing to Install' for about 5 minutes before giving up.

    Anyone know what's wrong?

    You might wanna wait see if someone else answers though. I system restore when things go wrong, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore and from there select a date before you starting having trouble, and click next until it restores itself.

    No you won't lose anything except programs that have been installed since then. Your music and photos will be fine, and the process can be reversed.
