I've got one tomorrow at 11am and one on friday. Got 2 calls today, both from hotels.

One is where the famous people stay when they come to plymouth. eek2

    • Do research on the job
    • Dress appropriately (business casual always works - cotton pants/shirt, nice shoes {not too shiny} tie optional)
    • Strong handshake
    • Think before you speak
    • Maintain eye contact
    • Smile
    • Relax
    • Be direct

If you're working at McDonald's some of these don't apply but most do, interviews are mostly very fluid so just stick to these and you'll be alright.

My brother had to do a phone interview today Neutral It was funny cos they didn't mention what the job was so he had to guess about what kind of job it was.

Pretty much what Dena said, speak about what you've done in the past that you're proud of and get some info on the company.

    -Brush your teeth
-Wear a suit, if you're going to be working in a hotel, they're going to want people who look smart
-Do up your flies, I once went into an interview without my flies done up, it was very embarrassing when I realised. Luckily I got the job because I was the exceptional candidate (their words) but if they'd noticed, I think they would have thought I was a disorganised mess.
-Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before you go in, no-one wants to shake hands with a sweaty bastard
-Make sure you are good looking, the more good looking you are, the better you chances (seriously, research proves this)
    -Appear confident and professional
-If they ask you why you want the job, explain that you enjoy customer service, and if you don't have any experience, cite examples of helping people in real life or in school, they don't have to be true
-Make sure your arse is clean, no-one wants to hire someone who stinks
-Wear anti-perspirant, particularly if you are very nervous, same reason

At the end of the interview you usually get the chance to ask questions of your own. It's important to have questions prepared but make sure that what you ask hasn't been covered either on the website or in the interview itself.

Maybe ask about things like growth and advancement, how many people work in the same role as you, overtime, etc.

All the above and explain why you think working at hotels interests you. Say it will help you develop as a person and will teach you skills etc. Make up bullshit if you must. Most important one is keeping eye contact in my opinion. Just stare, put on a confident face and it'll no doubt improve your chances.

Business casual doesn't always work. You should were business formal (suit up!).

Sometimes formal is too formal, and it's hard to get a good suit (seen so many dudes in big floppy suits it's ridiculous) formal is safe. Simples

Had a few for different colleges in the last few months, I couldn't really get rejected though Very Happy

Just be confident, know what questions you want to ask before the interview and relax Smile

Don't ramble which can be hard if you are a talkative person. I once did that when I was 16 but instead of them stopping me, they continued with the conversation and we ended up talking about some unrelated shit in Eastern Europe. Fair to say, I didn't get the job. Laughing

Just had the interview, didn't ask me many questions at all.

The hardest thing he said was "can you multi-task, like do abit behind the bar etc" i said "of course"... he was happy. Neutral
