Modric vs Fabregas

Stop bringing up stats when referring to Modric.

It proves nothing about his game or his ability.

He created 64 chances, of which 2 were taken. What does this suggest? Spurs need new strikers, mainly.

Last season Fabregas had problems with his hanstring, so you can hardly blame him for not being as effective. Yet IMO he was still more effective then Modric was for Spurs.

Fabregas takes penalties for Arsenal where as Modric doesn't so....goals wise they're not that different.

Assists wise.....Modric is at Spurs....a team who's strikers had a terrible season.....Modric can be progressive but usually not so much as Fabregas....and whilst Fabregas is better at that part of the game...I think Modric has arguably the better ability and consistency when it comes to control of the midfield.

As I said....Modric was at Spurs and this was his biggest season...but it wasn't that great for Spurs as a whole. In contrast Fabregas' best season was the 09/10 season...and sure he had some injury problems this season but I never said he didn't, I simply said Modric had a better season. In the big games for Arsenal Fabregas needs to be at his best...but only a very few games jump out to me where Fabregas was boss. I think Modric had more and again...he was at Spurs.

Ok ok...but I think the point is how many goals did Fabregas score which were penalties?

I'm not trying to back pedal but....I don't think that goals and who took penalties was the main focus of my post. Because whatever the number is...that's not necessarily going to change anything.

VdV went off injured in that game Kuled, if memory serves me correctly, he's there usual penalty taker anyway.

Why do people look down on goals if they were penalties anyways? They still have to score them

I agree, something I've said about Lampard

But it's not the hardest goal to score.....the percentages would suggest that anyway.

But in the end.....Fabregas/Modric were 5 goals apart. That's a fairly big number considering that Modric only got 4...but for a midfielder who's trade is being excellent in midfield......goals aren't the first thing you look at. For example....look at Xavi.

A casual Cesc game is a good game for Modric, I don't know where you're getting at

I would take Fabregas and Nasri over Modric anyday.

It's obvious who I voted for and I wasn't even attempting to be biased.

I'd take Modric ahead of Nasri at United, but I think Nasri is more complete.

I remember when I started the Nasri v Modric thread on the old boards and people argued around the moon why Modric is better, but now more people are seeing Nasri is a beast.

I can understand why some would prefer Modric, he is playing in his natural position and doing well, but if Nasri were played in the middle for Arsenal I think he would be a 10-15 goals scorer and 10-15 assists per season easy.

I guarantee if you look back to the thread you made, you'd find me saying Nasri is better.

Samir does seem to be a badass for France in that CAM spot.

The only reason why people think Modric is better is because Nasri hasn't had much of a chance with Fabregas in the side, he hasn't been the main man, but look at times he was, Porto for example, he's a much better all round player, the only thing Modric has on him is passing, but Nasri is still a good passer.

Don't get me wrong, Modric is class, but I see Nasri more as an all round complete player, Modric's passing is sexy though.

Fabregas > Modric > Nasri.

Modric is a Liverpool type of player. Would love him at Liverpool.

Nasri is much better than Modric IMO.
