Wembley is in line to host the Champions League final for the second time in three years when Uefa make their decision in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday.
Last season’s final between Manchester United and Barcelona was hailed as a success by Uefa despite inflated ticket prices drawing widespread criticism.
“There is a feeling that the 2013 final should go to England to mark the FA's 150th anniversary. Initially it was suggested that Manchester should be chosen but the success of Wembley last month means it is now very much the favourite,” said a senior Uefa source to Press Association Sport.
It is thought that the venue will be selected to mark the 150-year anniversary of the English FA.
The organisation was praised for its smooth running of the 2011 Champions League final, both for their commercial and organisational skills.
Uefa and the FA were heavily criticised for the price of the tickets for the final. The starting price for a ticket to the final was £150 and £338 for an adult and child on top of a £26 administration fee.
Uefa president Michel Platini apologised for the high cost of tickets at Wembley and said the organisation would consider introducing a cheaper category for families for future finals.
Platini said: "It was a mistake, it was not good. But it is not easy to decide the price of the tickets in the Champions League final."
He added: "Perhaps in the future we have to have another category for families that is less expensive. But if you put those on the black market how much will they cost?"
Wembley’s modern building meant, unlike other stadiums, there was no need for extra facilities outside the stadium for hospitality events and the mass media coverage.
Hope it's true. I want to go watch Saints smash some foreign shit.
