He wasn't really offsides, but that's irrelevant.

Hernandez's first touch of the ball is an offsides!

Yeah. When I made that post.Scuba Steve wrote:0x0?
2-0 now though. Peralta with the first, Chicharito with the other.(there are two Hernandeze's on the team.)
Fun fact, Hernandez (Chicharito) just passed legendary Real Madrid striker Hugo Sanchez on Mexico's all time top scorer list.
Disregard that last one. Jumped the gun. He's still one goal behind.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Why is it that it seems MLS refs are like 10x better than CONCACAF international referees. Don't know if you guys feel this way but I certainly do. Not to say MLS refs are amazing, its just international ones are shit.

Not all the teams in CONCACAF make the Hex.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Well because MLS is the second best league in the region, I don't watch a lot of non-US/Mex CONCACAF games so I don't see our refs a lot but in a tougher league, faster league, and more high profile league, I would expect them to be better than say... a Panamanian.

I watched Bolivia crush Uruguay yesterday, that was quite fun. Of course the altitude probably played a part, as I don't think I'v ever seen Forlan run 10m only to look like he had just finished a marathon
Still though, 4-1. Bolivia actually played some decent football too, unlike against Peru

Yea. Smart move. It's kinda hard to be England's keeper and Canada's manager at the same time.

Now that Jamaica has bested Canada does that mean Hoilett will join them?
I always had a feeling he wanted to join England. He wouldn't have snubbed either for so long.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Apparently his father is pushing hard for him to play for Jamaica. Don't see any reason he'd come to us at this point, another 6 years until the next world cup. De Guzman is still a possibility though as I doubt he'll ever get called up for Holland, and his brother said he was 99.9% sure that he would join Canada if we made the hex.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Just talked to my cousin's friend that plays for FC Edmonton in the NASL (who both he and my cousin were on Jonathon De Guzman's soccer team when they were kids). He said he was on skype with Jonathon the day after Canada got thrashed. He asked him if what Julian said was true (that he would join if they made the hex) and he said that Julian was running his mouth, he said it was very doubtful even if they made the hex, but now that they didn't there's no chance.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Johnathon de Guzman perplexes me. Why would he not want to play for Canada when your brother plays for Canada? You're not getting into the Netherlands' squad and sure Jamaica is better but they probably aren't going to the world cup either, and it's not like you can just tag along if they do without being part of the team to get there.
It's like he just can't be arsed.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
Gunna surprise us all and play for the Philippines.
Don't know what his deal is either to be honest. I'd think he'd rather play for Canada or Jamaica than not play at all for Netherlands. Could see him going to Jamaica if Hoilett also goes to Jamaica.

I predict a Jamaica v New Zealand playoff final for a spot in the World Cup.

No, but they have clinched at least a spot in Asian Playoffs which is between 3rd place in Group A and 3rd in Group B.

Re: 2014 World Cup Qualifying thread
After beating New Caledonia earlier today 2-1 New Zealand has officially won the OFC round of World Cup qualifying. Now they will face the 4th place CONCACAF side in an intercontinental playoff.
