European minnows improving?
Well it sure seems that the minnows are doing much better if you look at the standings for qualifying for the 2013 Euro U-21 Championship. Check out some of the current group leaders; Malta, Armenia, Faroe Islands, and Georgia

It would be cool if a country like Andorra qualified for the Euro's or World Cup

Re: European minnows improving?
Georgia aren't really minnows. Not more so than Montenegro anyway.
Soon they will have 3-4 star players playing for top teams IMO. Levan Kenia, Jano, Mchedlidze, Daushvili, Dzalamidze and then there is Kvekevskiri and Kakubava have been linked with top clubs for about a year now, probably for good reason.

Re: European minnows improving?
If Goalkeepers ment greatness Denmark would have won more than Euro 1992. Come to think of it, he was also polish.. what is going on?!
Even the U21 tournament starting in a few days have Iceland and Belarus, which would be a bit of a miracle if they qualified for the current setup of Euro / World cup tournament. Perhabs in 2016 where it will be expanded to 24 teams there is a possability. But then they managed to qualify for an 8 team tournament, in front of teams like Germany and Netherlands.

I don't know. It started with one of history's greatest goalkeepers (top 5 anyway) with Jan Tomaszewski in the 60-70's, and since then we just have been churning them out.

Re: European minnows improving?
While speaking about Georgia I think that you have to be impressed by their fan base. For Euro 2012 qualifying they have had the 4th best average attendance and the 2nd highest lowest attended game. This is something I would have never predicted.

Re: European minnows improving?
Slovenia aren't really minnows, but I think they are improving very strongly and soon will be competing head to head with some of Europe's best.

Re: European minnows improving?
No, I meant Slovenia..
Look at their progress:
In 2002 WC, they got 0 points from their Group
In 2010 WC, they got 4 points one point behind USA and England
In current UEFA Qualifiers....they have 11 points, 5 behind Italy.

Re: European minnows improving?
Slovenia don't have many good players chiboy. (granted they are gaining success due to a good manager and successful team play)
Slovakia on the other hand, do have a lot of good players. I think they will have an even better side than Czech Republic had early last decade.

Re: European minnows improving?
Slovenia have a beast midfield coming through....Bacinovic, Ilicic...and then you have Vukcic and Khrin.
Nothing against Slovakia, they are very very good too with Weiss, Stoch, Hamsik, Skrtel etc.....but I prefer the way Slovenia play much better.
