Generally I'd say watch the torture every time. dogs are way too cute, likable and innocent for that. but still rather vague. how gruesome would the torture. I don't think I'd have the stomach to watch it if it get's too brutal. Who's getting tortured, will I have emotional attachments to that person? If they were rabid dogs, I'd shoot them. If I could just shoot them without killing, I probably still wouldn't love dogs too much for that.

On a serious note the question posed is not in depth enough to answer in full. If you were given some sort of backstory on the human in question then it would obviously help, for example if the person had commited an almost unforgiveable crime such as rape or murder then I would probably have no hesitation to let them be tortured, although if this was a random average joe, I would kill the dogs for sure.
If I was to answer the question on face value without any backstory though, I would probably choose to kill the dogs.

Depends on what's meant by watch.
Is this some youtube shit? Because I inadvertently watched two guys cut off a live man's head on one of those video sites. I was shocked, but i got over it. I'm not now a nervous traumatised wreck, and i was 16 at the time.
On the other hand, if you have to sit through hours of a person getting tortured right in front of you, begging you for mercy and seeing the agony in their eyes, that could scar a person for life.
But i'd still take what may be deserved or undeserved torture over repeated cold-blooded murder, and I don't even like dogs. Anyone who wouldn't needs to have a long look in the mirror and a couple of therapy sesssions.

Humans are superior to animals. Being a human, I would rather shoot 10 dogs in order to save a person from being tortured. But then you have to take into the account of whether the torture is deserving (which is very rare) and the level of torture.
Killing (for fun) or torturing animals is a sick thing to do, but if it will save a human life, by all means.
