Is it an absolute attachment to the original football club formed years ago, shown in legal documents, an attachment to the players, the manager, the stadium, the location, what? People say "I'd still be a Liverpool fan" or whatever in this scenario, but I'm pretty sure if Liverpool sold all the players, fired the manager, moved to London and became the London Reds and brought in a load of players from the US you'd stop supporting them, at some point there's a line that a club can cross which will end your support for them.

If they became the London Reds, they wouldn't be Liverpool would they?

And rightly so. As people didn't start supporting Liverpool for that. So if all that happened, what would be the point, as that's not why I started supporting that club? Basically if what you said happened, it wouldn't even be Liverpool, so what's the point? Interesting though. But as I said, it'd never happen anyway. So it's a choice people will never have to make.

No, we are interested in supporting the club that represents our city/town/area.

I'm not sure I get the question, but in the past few years my club has had an incredible amount of turnover both with players, coaching staff, managers, and even the people in the front office. I've gotten attached to VERY few players, and as I've grown older I've come to the fact that very few footballers "love the club" as much as they say they do, so that makes the attachment even weaker. I support my team and the players who play for that as a result.

Although if you told me that our current squad would be replaced with the squad of the Columbus Crew I just might die.

Alright, so why don't you support your local rivals?

You realise Liverpool and London are different cities?

Fair enough, it's the city you're attached to. Do you support Everton as well as Liverpool?

Strange thing to say that, people are brought up to support one club, and to dislike the rivals of that club, why would he support everton if he supported liverpool. Do you support city?

In any case, if liverpool became the london reds, liverpool supporters would probably start supporting AFC Liverpool more, everton being the rival club they came to dislike anyway

OK, so you're brought up to support the one club, if it's solely an effect of the team you're brought up to support, why not stick with the London Reds?

The point I'm making here, is that the reasons for continuing to support a club are very complex, and the absurd scenario in the OP isn't a question of simply 'I support , regardless of who the players/manager are.
