The only way any team moves up the league is money. Even Blackpool bought players to get into the Premier League.

If you don't spend, you can't improve your squad.

I think you'll find most teams gain success by spending money. Even Barcelona.

I don't see how they are scum for spending money. How else are they going to move up the Football League pyramid?

All the big teams started somewhere, and spent money that the fans didn't have.

I'm glad the sustainable rules only affect teams in Europe, if it was universal it'd kill football.

What does it really matter where the money comes from? Most teams are in debt, if you don't have money from the outside then the money will have to come from somewhere else.....i.e. the fans who will all have to pay more money.

Anyway, bigger clubs don't deserve an unfair advantage, if anything you'd think they might try and help the smaller teams to make leagues competitive.

Its nice to see them use there money wisely.

I don't think that would work. Money isn't Mr Blatter's thing. He's too busy implementing goal-line technology into every ground. He's working hard on it though.

I'll say this, it's one thing to have the money, it's another to use it wisely and get a team playing together, which is what we have done. We almost went into administration a couple of years ago thanks to the Majeeds, we had to get rid of most of the squad, which is probably why we bought quite a few players at first because we hardly had a playing squad. I was unsure how I felt at first, delighted that Crawley might do something, but I hated Man City and Chelsea for spending money. Who knows we could spend the money on shit players and players who will upset the dressing room, which will lead to crap performances and team morale. By the way you can add the money from the FA Cup run, which we earned fair and square beating Swindon, Torquay and Derby and taking United all the way at Old Trafford.

Let me ask you this: how would you feel if your club were given money without the problem of any debt? You'd be delighted just like City and Chelsea fans were. It'll make you a hypocrite, and I'm probably one myself.

I actually expected a thread like this on here eventually after the promotion. It was inevitable.

Being honest. Crawley have hardly explained where their money is coming from. Also their manager Steve Evans is a former crook who cheated the tax man at Boston.

It's come from English (or British not sure, read an article ages ago ) investors based overseas. I'll see if I can find it again and dig it up.

Did those investors used to live in the the Sussex area or support Crawley? I mean no disrespect to Crawley but I don't see why someone would want to invest millions into a club Crawley's size when before last season, they were nothing more than an average Conference club getting 1500 gates.

Being self reliant gets you nowhere.

Watford are one of the few self reliant clubs in the Championship....and any time we get a good player we have to sell him because if we don't we'll go into administration.

I'd rather know where the money is coming from first. You've seen the likes of Rushden who spent heavily on short term success and are now back to their sustainable position.

A couple of years ago at Cheltenham we had a director worth £966 million who was actually one of the wealthiest men in British football. Unfortunately he left when Marin Allen started spending a massive amount of money expecting Keswick to bail him out. When he left our squad was put up for sale and we were that close to administration.

All I'm saying is that Crawley should be careful and not risk the future of the club for short term success. We tried and failed, Histon tried and failed, Boston tried and failed and Rushden tried and failed. When these investors get bored then Crawley are pretty much fucked as you can't afford to pay League one/Championship wages with a 2500 average crowd.

Then surely the likes of Wrexham or Luton would have been a more ambitious club to take charge of?
