Manchester United were average this season and if it was not for Chelsea and Arsenal both having campaigns through some transitional periods they would of not won the Premier League. Next year they will have to compete with their arch rivals Manchester City's money pit too. Fergie has still relied on Giggs, Scholes and co who are solid enough but not what they were like 5 years ago. Last night vs Barca, Fergie's selection was wrong. Man United's midfield was poor at best. Park? Valencia attempting to man mark Messi? Top scorer Berbatov not in the squad? Only Vidic stood out for me.

Frankly with the money they have, the system and the back-room staff you could be forgiven to think any half decent manager could enjoy much of the same success. It was Fergie who helped created it all and made Manchester United successful but his magic formula looks out dated, his tacticts very archaic and his players less motivated. He is fast on his way to becoming a relic who doesen't know when to quit if he is not careful.

Time for a younger guy to re-build the squad. Jose Mourinho comes to mind. What could he achieve at arguably one of the best sides in the world and a huge finanical backing? Manchester United must be brave enough to show Alex where the exit door is that leads upstairs to where all the great Manchester United legends live and let in the younger guy for the next phase of Manchester United's journey.

facepalm He's an amazing manager, I'm sure he'll want to equal Liverpools European Cups before he retires and if he cant it will be because of his health.

The camera caught his hands shaking, my first reaction was Parkinson's because you're hands don't shake on their own like that in the cold, and it's almost the start of June so it can't be that cold.

So does he have Parkinson's? Hope not because he is a fantastic manager.

Then when we can't beat the best team ever (we're not the only ones as well Neutral) he should retire? Laughing

So his squad isn't good enough and his tactics aren't good enough but he's still managed to win 4 PL's in the last 5 and reach 3 CL Finals in the last 4?

facepalm United have to bare with all their money being taken out of the club by the Glazers. If it wasn't for them, United could probably spend £50m every season.......

They lost to Barcelona.....so? It's hardly unexpected.....and they still won the Premier League as they were the best team over 38 games easily.
