After forgetting about it, Rio said he was willing to take a test. You wouldn't do that if you've taken something. He wasn't allowed obviously.

Anyway, didn't do us too much harm. In the time he was banned, we won the FA Cup, and he was kept fresh (of sorts) for his return in September through missing Euro 2004.

Yep, he offered to take a test after everything was out of his system.

End of the day, he thought missing a test would result in a shorter ban rather than getting found guilty, he was wrong.

EDIT: I read 'start' in my head But at the same time, you can add six months from March, it's just simple math..

He didn't seek out that substance, he took something he thought that would help him slim down (perfectly fine) and that item contained a banned substance. He's been banned, because he should have checked, however, he didn't intentionally look to bend the rules.

It's also fine for a player to try and improve his strength, but I think if Chicharito took steroids all summer and came out for the start of next season with the strength of Yaya Toure you'd have a problem with it.

I don't think 6 months is going nearly far enough, it should be a 2 year ban, it's cheating, and it needs to be stamped out.
