    barcelona B Empty barcelona B

Post by Schnix Mon May 23, 2011 8:56 am

    question

so right now barcelona B are in 6th in segunda division with 2 games left, which means they would get a spot in the playoffs

IF they do make it, are they allowed to play in la primera?

Professional competition along with the regular incentives of playing reserve football at a young age? Win-win situation to me.

    2nd in the third division.

If Barcelona were regulated, theoretically they could go up (Barca B), but let's be serious, that's not going to happen.

If Barcelona went down and Barcelona B stayed in the 2nd division, they'd be sent down, the rules prohibit both teams to be in the same division, I'm sure the Spanish FA would make sure that stands.

Barca and Barca B can't be in the same league for obvious reasons. If Barca were to ever get regulated, then Barca B would get regulated too (unless they earned promotion to La Liga). But in that scenario, Barca B would become Barca and Barca would become Barca B.

Which is a reason why it shouldn't be allowed really.

It's basically a get out of jail free card for Barcelona if they're ever relegated.

That wouldnt happen though, I have no idea what ahly is talking about, if Barcelona went down they'd go down. All the history, all the players, the managers, etc. Barcelona B wouldnt inhert Barcelona's players/managers/trophies.

Yes I meant figuratively. But then what would happen? Will the club take their best players and move them to Barca B for the title or move them to Barca to earn promotion?

This happened to Athletic Club Bilbao many years ago.

Athletic Bilbao got relegated, while Athletic Club (back then the second team) landed in a playoff position. The second team got promoted, and basically what the board did was transfer most players from Athletic Bilbao to Athletic Club, and vice versa.

I'd imagine if the same were to happen to Barcelona, they'd do the same as Bilbao.

I dunno, Barcelona could be like 'we're demoting Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, and Puyol' to the reserve team shifty

But that wouldn't happen cause Barcelona would want to go back up Laughing

young players get experience against real teams instead of playing other youth teams, = better quality youth. it makes the league itself less important but it gives huge benefits.

Read it on the wiki page.

I remember reading about it like years ago so I might have gotten it a bit wrong somewhere(perhaps the board just swapped the registration of the sides or something), but something like this happened.

Not mentioning they are allowed to be developed closer to home and with the clubs better quality facilities and coaches.

Seeing the difference in quality between the youth coming out of England and Spain, you should be questioning why England doesn't do this instead of loaning players out.
