Denilson to Quit Arsenal Empty Denilson to Quit Arsenal

Post by Theo Filippo Fri May 20, 2011 10:44 pm

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6941234,00.html

Brazilian midfielder Denilson has stunned Arsenal by announcing that he wishes to leave the club.

The 23-year-old has been on the Gunners' books since 2006 and has made over 150 appearances for the club.

He has, however, grown disillusioned with life at the Emirates and believes the time has come to move on.

The Samba star claims a lack of silverware is to blame for his transfer request, with Arsenal having gone six years since they last picked up a trophy.

"I am a winner and I came here to win trophies but I've been here for five years and won nothing. A footballer's career is over very quickly so it is time for me to move on."
    Denilson
    Quotes of the week
Denilson feels he needs to make a fresh start if he is to make the most of his career and sees himself playing in the Primera Liga or Serie A in the near future.

"This has been the worst season of my life and I am so upset, so frustrated," he told The Sun.

"I am a winner and I came here to win trophies but I've been here for five years and won nothing.

"A footballer's career is over very quickly so it is time for me to move on.

    Crazy

"This is not a sudden decision. I made up my mind eight months ago.

"I was fed up of coming home and feeling down.

"But I haven't said anything until now because I did not want to disrupt the team during the season. And I haven't caused a big scene.

"I've simply been to see Arsene Wenger and told him how I felt and he's agreed to let me go.

"I know some people will think I am crazy. They are right. It is a great club with a great organisation, a great manager and so many talented players.

"Yes, I make a good living at Arsenal but other things in life are important.

"I need a fresh challenge and although I know I'm taking a big gamble I am ready to take that risk."

Denilson added: "I can't see myself returning in a Chelsea shirt or Liverpool or Manchester City, and definitely not Tottenham. I think my future will be in Spain or Italy."

    WTF? Wasters? rofl

Mate get a grip, he is one of brazils brightest talents and any team in the world would snap at the chance of having him.

Let's be honest here it was the fact that he was so good Arsene didn't want to risk him showing the rest of the team up.

I have just woken up and seen the real bitterness in you my friend. I'm sure that we have now came to some sort of agreement.

Denilson was and forever will be the greatest player to ever grace the emirates turf.

Don't agree with Koscielny and Chamakh has had some shit happen to him off field which he hasn't gone public with. So I think them two should stay.

Rosicky's a keeper, I wouldn't sell him unless we bring in someone better than him who will be willing to be back up to Nasri and Fabregas. He's still a quality footballer and I'd simply keep Eboue for back for Sagna and for his versatility.

Ramsey, Wilshere are better and I'd even go as far to say Lansbury. Don't let the fact he's creative fool you, he can't pass more than 5 yards anymore. He's another waste of wages who will get injured and can't even play anymore

Carl Jenkinson will probably somehow become backup for Sagna..

    Frimpong to take Denilson's place.
Diaby is the one I'd consider keeping.
Almunia replaced by Mannone or even Martinez as third choice.
    Lansbury will replace Rosicky.
World class centre half to come in and just release Squillaci. Neutral
And a new striker to replace Bendtner.

No way in hell are those two better than him, especially Lansbury right there you're just pushing it. Aaron Ramsey still has a long way to go and if Fabregas leaves I'd rather Nasri fill out his role than Ramsey. Saying Rosicky can't pass more than 5 yards is just a joke, he can pick out passes Ramsey can't, he's much more quicker with his passing, has better vision, more experience and other attributes which are better than Ramsey's. When he came on against Stoke he upped the tempo of our play for us which eventually resulted into Van Persie's goal. Yes he's injury prone, but I don't think we should sell him. He still has a role to play in our squad especially if Cesc leaves.

There are only two World Class centre-backs I think we can realistically sign, but yeah I agree. Maybe sign another utility player too.
