I was thinking about it. They've got some mighty fine characters: Vermaelan, Lukaku, Hazard, Fellaini, Dembele and a few others. Does anyone else think they'll be a quality side soon?

No they won't. Shit defence.
Plus, they're no Poland.

One of the biggest problems they have is the divide between players from the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, and the French speaking part of Belgium. Not to mention divisions between those who play for Standard Liege, those who play for Anderlecth, and those who play overseas. Their last coach said it was like dealing with a couple of kids.
Their underachievement is more a mental thing than anything.

People said the same about Serbia and they are really shit. Worst team I've seen considering the talented players they have.

They might very easily not qualify for Euro 2012.
They lack the world class players that every big team has. There is arguably one.....Vincent Kompany. The rest are either pretty good, injured too much (Vermaelen )..or young, generally unproven (at the highest level) talent.
It's not impossible.....but I doubt Belgium have the quality in depth or capacity to keep producing top players.

Vermaelen isn't injured too much, he's just had 1 bad injury this season to be fair.
But yeah I think 2012 is too early really, 2014 could be a good year for them.

Dramatic transformations cannot happen overnight. Yes, Belgium have produced top class players of late, players who will be playing at top clubs for years to come. However, that is only part of the equation when it comes to having a successful national team. It is tough to take a group of strangers and force them together and be successful. Now, strangers may be a harsh term, but there definitely has to be a team and group mentality to be successful anyways (it seems that even that Spanish players, divided as they may be in club football, can put their differences behind them when they pull on the Spain shirt).
When I see posts like this, I can only cry inside for the quality it brings to this forum.

I voted no.
England should also be one of the best teams in the world, however, they are not.

Maybe one of the good teams, but I highly doubt they will ever be up to a world cup winning team.

They have a lot of good players, no doubt, but that's no guarantee they will get any success. I guess you never know, if things fall the right way they could win something.
Will they become a world power? No, probably not.

Belgium has always had a handful of talented players, but not enough to bring them to the forefront of international football.
