    Looks interesting.

Lord Sugar, one of the country's leading entrepreneurs and a football
fan, investigates the business side of the beautiful game. Despite
generating billions in TV and other income, the professional English
game is struggling to make ends meet. Most Premier League clubs are in
the red, and debt stands at 3.3 billion pounds.

Lord Sugar interviews bosses, owners, agents and players and asks
what has gone wrong, who is to blame and what can be done. In typically
forthright fashion, he delivers his verdict and his own business
blueprint designed to help the game he has followed since childhood.

I've never thought of this tbh, when clubs make tons of money every season. How they're always in debt?

Well Hull had a 35m a year wage budget last season in the PL. Assume the wage bill was around 30 in the first year of the PL. Plus the 15m on transfer feees. That is 90m of the supposed 100m we get for going up(which isn't given straight off as soon as you go up) and that isn't even including agents fees.

    = problems.

They don't just say "Hey, you got promoted...here's £100m".

That's over many years.....includes almost all payments you could expect to get (except for cup appearances/Europe, player transfers etc).

If you get relegated the parachute payments are for stability...but a lot of the time it's not enough for clubs who mess themselves up.

I was amazed that Watford were in any debt after our promotion season.....but parachute payments....dozens of player sales later we're still in debt. The wages are what kills clubs....Blackpool are sensible where as some clubs are paying players £20-£30k p/w in the Premier League and when relegated their wages are still enormous.

There is only one more club in the PL that has less debt than Liverpool.

We are debt is something only like £40 Million.

Under G+H we spent all money earned from transfers and prize money on interest payment.

Now we have hardly any debt, and one of the biggest turnovers in Europe all to spend on players. Run

Pretty sad that. A huge reality check for those who haven't expierianced such grief at their club when it comes to business.

Don't agree with what he said, that if a club goes into administration they should just have to fold and give up the football club..
