Forget the Torres signing
£56m for Kaká has to be the biggest flop in history.

Re: Forget the Torres signing
You mean like Ibra to Barca?
Villa hasn't been special has he? £40m for 18 goals in 31 games? 1 goal in the last 14 is it?

Hernandez 12 in 25 for Man U and pretty much the same type of player as Villa AND gets less chances than Villa.

Villa is a much more rounded player than Hernandez.

Villa adds to the Barca game though. Arguably his influence extends more than to just scoring goals.James ♠ wrote:You mean like Ibra to Barca?

Also why forget Torres? Atleast Kaka has put in quality performances occasionally over his Madrid career.

Not really, that's Messi's job.
Pedro and Villa are expected to contribute to the goals but more importantly stretch the play to create space for Messi.

Villa was bought to support play in the box. He has done such much better than Ibra has, and it's arguable his role main role in the squad.

Re: Forget the Torres signing
Why buy Villa when there is muchbetter players at that job. Face it , Villa was brought as a goalscorer but hasn't done as well as they wanted.

If he was bought as a goalscorer why has he been playing on the left from the very first game?
He does exactly what they expect, had a poor run recently but on the whole he's had a very good 1st season with them and will only get better.

seriously though.. say Messi got his leg broken between now and the CL final.. do you still think Barcelona would beat Manchester United in the final? I mean they could, but I don't think it would happen. Even in the games Messi doesn't score in..he contributes so much.

I see your point yes, although i've been told Messi is nothing without Xavi and Iniesta so who knows eh?
You're right, just don't know what it's got to do with this thread.

Take Vidic out for United, would you think they could beat Barcelona?

That's why Barca were struggling to get in Europe before Messi came through, right?wellz wrote:Barca would be ruined if Messi got a long term injury .. lack depth
What better players? If Villa is a goalscorer, than why is Messi playing upfront?James ♠ wrote:Why buy Villa when there is muchbetter players at that job. Face it , Villa was brought as a goalscorer but hasn't done as well as they wanted.

What poor run? Villa's been performing recently, just hasn't gotten in the back of the net.Fine Shagger wrote:James ♠ wrote:Why buy Villa when there is muchbetter players at that job. Face it , Villa was brought as a goalscorer but hasn't done as well as they wanted.

They had two time world player of the year winner. Ronaldinho at his peak....that might of had something to do with it.

He wasn't great vs Real the first game of the 4 recently and a few before that, but on the whole yeah he's performed well.

It's not exactly a great challenge to adjust the formation to suite a Messi-less match. Barca have lots of talent, Villa could go upfront with ease, and the familiarity and chemistry the Barca players have with each other means that they will still be able to dominate games. Not all of Barca's goals come from Messi, lots come from the midfield, Villa, Pedro, Dani Alves etc.

Can't believe how epic Kaka was in 2006/7 and how much he's fallen from grace
What about Shevchenko for biggest flop though?
