Are any of those games free from drama? No. Hell no.

I think it is Sky and the media whom have brainwashed the English population into thinking Real Madrid v Barcelona is supposed to be some amazing event of spectacular football. That is not what the Classico is about, it is about getting one over the other, and much more if the result can effect trophies.

Just because there's players in my team, and ex players, that have dived doesn't mean I can't call up another team for doing so. If I couldn't- neither could most football fans. Laughing

It's just odd trying to defend what they are doing in a topic about the 2 teams by bringing in "EY guys the others are doing it too what about them!!"

Of course it is not the worst thing ever, but i find it so very sad that two of the best teams in the world that has probably a few hundred million watching them every time they play each other, behave like this, in my opinion its hurting the sport more than most of the other derby's cause of the media coverage.

If we were to even compare their derby to others then they barely even come close, i mean even my own team have theirs with Feyenoord, which admittedly have lost a bit of steam after they decided to play around in the bottom of the league. But history involves beatings, deaths and rocket attacks.

@Polska I'm not sure what Sky have done or have to do with it. El Classico to me and everyone i know that watches it have always brought at least 2 of the biggest matches every year, a year where we can get 5 should be even better but it has just been a disappointment so far. You are honestly saying you are watching it (if you are) for the drama and "what it means" rather than seeing some of the best footballers in the world go toe to toe?

Pedro? He's dived like once in his career so why the fuck is he included?
Likewise Messi, he very rarely dives. Xavi doesn't dive but can be bitchy, Puyol doesn't dive. The rest sure but that's no more than other teams.

They feel the need to dive because game after game they get targeted by terrible tackles and without going down nothing is done about it.

Exactly. The derby, and the two teams involved are just so big that it's a must-watch for even neutrals. Not because of the football, but because it is history. Plus as Jamie said, Clasico's are usually entertaining in addition to the drama and the event itself, what's new is Jose Mourinho.

That's pretty much 99% of my frustration. People are going overboard based on 1 game, you just confirmed it. People who watch Barcelona regularly know they aren't the disgraceful team the idiots are making them out to be. Real Madrid likewise.

Messi doesn't dive too much, he just goes down more easily due to his size. But even then, his balance is extraordinary.

I watched the first El Classico to see two of the best teams compete.....and well I've not even bothered since.

It's not entertainment.....both teams diving and moaning all game added to the one sided possession and negative tactics is utterly boring....
