Different game now. You have to be more of an athlete than you did back then.

Still shouldn't make a massive difference. The players were a lot tougher than as well. They should swap around.

Don't think Wilshere should go as hes basically an established player in the senior squad, i don't see how going to the U-21 European Championship would benefit him.

Carroll could do with the expereince, and its a good opportunity for him to prove himself.

Wilshere after this season needs a good rest. He's been fit all season and played 90 minutes almost every game.

I thought the idea of the U21's was to find the players for the senior team, Wilshere is already in that team so whats the point of him taking somebody else's place who deserves a chance to show his skills? We all know what Jack can do.

Has no impact. All players then were out drinking, smoking, eating fish and chips after games. And played at a much lower pace.

Yeh if you listen to old guys in football the main thing they say thats different with todays game is its so fast. Back in the 70's each player wouldn't cover 10km a match like they do now.

Would prefer Carroll to rest up tbh; wouldn't want him playing too many matches so soon after a bad injury.
For Wilshere it's his first full season as a regular so I think it would also benefit him to not travel with the U21's.

After-all, these 2 players will probably both be picked for the Euro 2012 squad so that would be like 2 years non-stop for them. Not the best idea so soon after becoming regulars at their respective club teams, and the national side.

lol playing under stuart pearce will do more harm than good hes the most unprofessional and tactically clueless manager working in the uk. wilshere will learn more from training at arsenal rather than playing out of position and chasing longballs like to many players under pearce and what makes it even more funny is that hes gonna get a new contract to coach that team so it will just keep goin on

Hmm.... that is probably labeling him too soon. But his winner against South Africa and equalizer against Argentina at the age of 18 does indicate that he has the potential to rival the best American born striker ever, Giuseppe Rossi.

There might be some confusion in the last post. Meant to say best ever striker born in the USA, not to be confused wiht any other country that might be considered part of America.

Rei wrote:Wilshere shouldn't IMO. He has already a shoe in for the senior team. Give him spot to another player who has to prove himself. Plus, Wilshere has been playing constantly for Arsenal, a full summer's break would do him some good.

Carrol on the other hand should go.

    This.

    Plus what Mal has said.

But it doesn't matter, Pearce and the FA will chose them regardless of what their respective clubs, managers or the players themselves say.

Should just start on the bench IMO. Bring em on after we're 1nil down.

Plus I think Josh Mceachran is good enough for England U21 let him play I say and give him a chance to impress.
