Adel Taarabt Wins Football League Player Of The Year Empty Adel Taarabt Wins Football League Player Of The Year

Post by Mouse Tue Mar 22, 2011 10:07 am

QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt has been named the Football League player of the year after firing Neil Warnock's side to the top of the npower Championship.

The 21-year-old Moroccan has hit 15 goals this season as QPR have pushed for promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

The League One award went to Peterborough's Craig Mackail-Smith, who heads the scoring charts, and another league-leading scorer, Bury's Ryan Lowe, carried off the League Two prize.

Ipswich's highly-rated 17-year-old striker Connor Wickham was named young player of the year and apprentice of the year, while Crewe manager Dario Gradi was handed the Contribution to League Football award.

    One man team.

Connor overrated Wickham winning that award is ridiculous as well.

It just basically listens to who the media fancy at the time.

Hes only 17, you can't really call him overated at the moment.

Wickham defo has potential anyway, if he develops properly he could become a great player.

    I know.

The people were shortlisted before Graham took out such a big goal scoring lead.

They should be after the play off final IMO, I don't see why they need to be this early.

I think Wickham was a good contender for the award...though I would've given him the apprentice and left it at that.

Young player wise it had to be Will Buckley for Watford cow (he was in the shortlist btw)

I'll put aside my QPR are a one man team trolling and say someone like Danny Graham. Lets face it, without his goals Watford would be fight relegation. Whereas QPR would still be up in playoffs at least without Taprat.

I admit, his goals and performances have been really valuable to us but we're not just a one man team. We might've been relegated....but we'd have to be at least 21 points worse off for that!!!! We've got a squad full of talented youth players, Sordell's only 19 and has 10 goals...and some experienced ones to hold it together. You never know..even without Graham we could be a play off chasing side, though I highly doubt it to be fair.

I do really think that Graham is underrated though, if we don't go up I expect him to be sold to a Premier League club.

25, so quite a lot of good seasons ahead of him. He has to lead the line because there's only inexperience and youth as back up...so he's done really well.

If he goes I do fear for Watford next season. We have debt that needs to be paid off and our new owners who are coming in soon (I think) look like fucking amateurs, the guy was bankrupt like a year ago or something Neutral.

Looks like we're going to be used Glazer style (but poor)

One problem with Taarabt is the fact he can't remember he has team-mates.

Nah Becchio hasn't even been the best in the Leeds team, let alone in the entire division. I'd say he's 4th or 5th in our squad.

Shots parried by the keeper shifty

But he does sometimes do everything himself, which would annoy me, he's class though, no doubt about it.
