He only won it because we rested our big boys including Ronaldo for the last game.dena wrote:Remember a few years ago when Anelka won with 18? What a year that was.
I still can't see Berbatov winning it, he's gotten goals in bunches vs. bad teams and I have my doubts about him continuing that, I'd hedge a bet on Tevez.

Re: The Golden Boot 2010/2011
Berbatov is crazy! 11 of his 19 total goals have come as part of hat tricks including one game where he scored 5 goals. I think he deserves it the most but the season is relatively young with an average of about 12 games left for each team.

I don't give a flying fuck.
My friend, this is one area where football could take a huge slice of knowledge from an American sport. One thing the American's are good at recognising is wh odeserves credit for what.
Clearly Dimitar Berbatov's defence splitting passes for the assists of assists deserve alot more credit than a Wayne Rooney tap in.

Not really, seen as Rooney would have scored the goalLiamB_30 wrote:Dan wrote:menalawyerguy wrote:In ice hockey, they give credit for up to two assists per goal. I think they should do the same in football.

Tevez, he seems to score more consistently than Berbatov who only scores in batches against weak (er) sides

Yes, but what if he taps it across to someone who splits the defence himself?LiamB_30 wrote:Dan wrote:menalawyerguy wrote:In ice hockey, they give credit for up to two assists per goal. I think they should do the same in football.

My ==frie=nd, =+Te=v=ez is only capable of scoring penaltys against good teams.
Generally all players don't score against stronger sides, because stronger sides are more difficult to score against.
I thought this would be common knowledge

Obviously. But Tevez is better at scoring against strong sides than Berbatov is.
Berbatov often goes weeks without scoring any goals, even against poor sides, Tevez always seems to be in the goals.

Typical Tevez goal. Fluid passing into the back of the net.

I must discount penaltys in this table.
Completely ruins the skill aspect of the golden boot. Berbatov should running away with it by a country mile if it was fair.

Tell you what, Liam was right about Tevez's penalties.
He's about to score his second penalty to complete his hat-trick.

Just typical. He has missed two penaltys this season I think, so I will give him -2 for each of those.

This is where I begin in my mission to prove the doubters wrong. Doubters never go away unfortunately, no matter how many times you prove them wrong (Man Utd have many doubters)
It is well known, that I predicted Berbatov will win the Golden Boot many, many months ago. People claimed it was a ludicrous suggestion, stating Fernando Torres, Carlos Tevez, Dider Drogba, Rooney, and Carroll would beat Berbatov to the boot.
5 months later and here we are. Their is still a long way to go, but as we can see from the facts, Dimitar Berbatov is in pole position to win the Golden Boot this year

Re: The Golden Boot 2010/2011
With Berbatov not getting games, and Tevez being injured, neither of them have been making a real push for it.
Tevez has 2 games to score though, Berbatov only has one.
Reckon Tevez might nick it.
