    Liverpool, but taking everything into account both are nice cities...isn't Liverpool cultural city of Europe :?

    You should come though. Poland is a brilliant country, you will really enjoy it. It isn't shitty at all. If you come, you should definitely visit the cities. Warsaw's old city, Gdansk, Poznan and Wroclaw are all beautiful cities. If anyone comes, they should spend an extra month and visit Krakow as well as go up north to see the reenactment of the Battle of Grunwald.

    If they were in England you'd say they were shit, fuck off.

    What cities in England look anywhere as beautiful as Gdansk/Poznan/Wroclaw/Krakow/Warsaw old city?

    Not many cities in Europe can compare with Krakow tbh. Only Prague, Budapest, Belgrade, various Italian cities, Barcelona, Lyon, Marsielle IMO. Nobody else.

    Lul. It's an acquired taste, tbh those cities look ok but not really a modern style....

    You edited your post to be reply+quote worthy;

    Our cities old center don't have a modern style, they have the old style, and that is why they are beautiful.

    From an industrial modern point of view, our cities aren't exactly bad looking either. Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science is a brilliant skyskraper.

    Warsaw is really a beautiful city, everywhere from it's Presidential Palace (used to be the King of Poland's Palace) to it's modern buildings like the Palace of Culture and Science, to brilliant Cathedrals, Castles in the old Town, Pilsudski's square, the Wisla river etc. Not to mention it is a fairly green city. You can explore most of the city through Bike Routes. I have, it's brilliant.

    I think Warsaw is one of the top cities to live in Europe for it's culture.

    England has the money to renovate though. England has all the historical nice buildings like palaces, mansions, cathedrals etc.....but if you go back to 1900's England it's a load of factories....England is a lot better now that it's getting renovated, and when the taste and designs are right modern can look even better than historical....and be more practical of course.

    Warsaw might look nice, but it's not as practical/lively/economical etc as London....which itself is one of the most modern cities in the world, yet still has a lot of historical character and landmarks.

    I agree with you.

    I hope Poland follows the same path, except keeping and restoring it's historical centers, restore their beautiness, perhaps restoration projects to rebuild old brilliant buildings destroyed in Communist era and WWII bombing, but at the same time build the newer areas practical, be modern and beautiful.

    More green as well. Bike routes are fantastic in Warsaw. They are like really top class like in Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Such routes should be invested in other cities in Poland and all of Europe IMO.

    Liverpool, but taking everything into account both are nice cities...isn't Liverpool cultural city of Europe :?

    Wait for the future. Warsaw will become a big financial hub in Europe. That much is very very obvious, you can see it now. Sure it won't be as major as London, but it will be big.

    London has historical character? I guess you are referring to Victorian age buildings? IMO that is already in England's industrial era. Not the same as Poland's historical character.

    (polskaGOLA) wrote:First of all, as a Pole, I never am supposed to "like" russia, but your comments on how shitty the WC it's going to be was lol! worthy.

    Shut the fuck up, England didn't win it, too bad, move on. Russia is likely going to host an amazing World Cup.

    And Qatar winning it, well ok. FIFA is corrupt, alright. But still, there will be no terrorism, no deaths, no nothing. The WC itself will likely be quality. Why wouldn't it? They will pull an amazing WC with the Oil money they have. Alcohol will be permitted and everything obviously.

    I agree that Qatar will host a good world cup. im looking forward to it! a proper festival akin to London hosting a World Cup in terms of Geography. but Russia getting 2018 ahead if England and Iberia is nothing short of scandalous! that would mean 3 world cups on the spin that have been awarded to dangerous countries who dont have the necessary infrastructure. im not just saying that becaue im pissed off England didnt get it, im saying it as a veteran of 2 world cups and one who travelled to South Africa! we, the fans deserve more than being subjected to semi developed countries where travel is expensive and inconvenient! Russia will have as few fans visit it as South Africa did because people will vote with their feet.

    im hearing that England cant bid again until 2030! surely 2026 is our next opportunity. anyway in my opinion the World Cup should now be awarded to;

    2014 - Brazil
    2018 - Russia
    2022 - Qatar
    2026 - England
    2030 - Australia
    2034 - Spain/Portugal (or just Spain)
    2038 - USA or Canada

    BTW polska - Ahmed Khalil is from the UAE. not Qatar!

    Depends what you mean by Big.

    I see it becoming as big as Berlin/Amsterdam/Zurich/Brussels. Not as big as London though.

    Not many cities can match London in the world. Laughing It is after all one of the 3 major financial districts in the world, others being New York and Beijing/HK/Shanghai/Tokyo/Whatever the fuck it is.

    Spain and Italy have both hosted a world cup in my lifetime, i dont remember the spain one though! i can understand Russia having never hosted a World Cup before getting it but England have to get it next in Europe! only France, Italy, Germany and Spain are in the same league when it comes to capability. Spain had it in '82, the others have had it twice already. its due back in England 2026/2030. hopefully we can make a stronger bid with all proposed stadiums already bult to standard, no Milton Keynes (it offers nothing!) and the highspeed rail network in place.

    perhaps a joint British Isles bid is the way forward.

    Ireland;

    Croke Park - Dublin - 82,300 (can probably be extended)
    Aviva Stadium - Dublin - 50,000

    Wales;

    Millenium Stadium - Cardiff - 74,500

    Scotland;

    Murrayfield - Edinburgh - 67,500
    Hampden Park - Glasgow 50,670 (plans are afoot to increase capacity to 70,000 bringing fans behind the goals close to the pitch)

    England;

    Wembley - London - 90,000
    Twickenham - London - 82,000
    Olympic - London - 80,000
    Emirates - London - 60,000
    New City Ground - Nottingham - 45,000
    Villa Park - Birmingham - 50,000 (extended)
    Molineux - Wolverhampton - 44,000 - 50,000 (after renovation)
    Old Trafford - Manchester - 76,000 (over 80,000 if renovated)
    COM Stadium - Manchester - 47,000 (60,000 after renovation)
    New Anfield - Liverpool - 71,000
    New Everton Stadium - Merseyside - 60,000
    New Elland Road - Leeds - 50,000
    New Hillsborough Stadium - 45,000
    St. James' Park - Newcastle - 52,000
    SoL - Sunderland - 49,000

    That's 15 stadiums in England alone. if you remove the non football specific stadiums it's still 13. whether England do it alone or as a joint bid. in terms of stadiums, infrasctructure and ease of travel, our bid would be second to none. it was second to none this time but we should be the next European nation to host it! when Poland can put together a bid as good as this then they should be awarded it, but they are a long way behind many European nations!
