Just Messi claiming another prize he didn't deserve. Think of John Terry or Drake on the field/court celebrating a team's win.

Messi may not have done much last night, but the defense was all set up towards stopping Messi, which freed things up for Trout and Cabrera. Award is well-deserved.

Yeah, there's too much criticism towards Messi winning this award. He was a worthy contender. A lot of people are acting like there were 10 others more worthy than him. To me (and according to the panel that chose the winner), it was between Muller and Messi. Muller had a good tournament, but I feel like the German national team was more about the unit than any individual player. To me, Messi stood out brilliantly considering the pressure that was on him emotionally and physically. Without him, I'd even have doubts about Argentina getting past the group stage.

James and maybe Neuer were also more deserving based on tournament performance.

Messi didn't deserve it, Demichelis and Gary clearly carried Argentina into the final with some excellent defense.

Lahm just retired from the national team. Can't say I saw that coming.

What the fuck.
Edit: Didn't realise he was 30. Thought he was younger, for some reason. Makes sense to bow out on the ultimate high.

There is still a good chance he could have captained them at the next Euros.

Surprising, Germany are clear favorites for Euro 16, you'd think he'd want to do that international double.
