It's about time a rapper used his skillz for a good cause and stood up to all of those pro-cancer advocates.

I hate coming home from uni, my mum stays up late watching TV in the room below where I sleep with a volume that makes the news intro sound like a banging club beat.

Coming home from uni for the first time is a superb experience. I have even greater respect for everything my parents do and say-their advice on school, work, and slaying the wenches is priceless.

I didn't, I actively avoided it, missed the independence. What year are you in now?

Yeah I got through it fine in the end, luckily I only had two exams too after doing a shitload of coursework over the year I plan to start my dissertation later on this summer before third year starts.

I've asked my mum to stop picking me up from secondary school. I think I'm old enough to make the 5 minute journey by myself.

It's a bit boring, but it makes a nice change for a few weeks.Theo Filippo wrote:Does anyone actually like going home after being at uni? I think it's shit
It might just be a first-year thing. I do plan on trying to find work near home next year, saving almost 2000 dollars compared to this summer will be superb.SBSP wrote:I liked coming home.

That's probably the best approach. I started mine about two weeks before the deadline and survived on a horrendous amount of caffeine for a couple of weeks. The D Word was forbidden in our house for most of the year. Doing it on anything interesting?

Yeah I know a lot of final years that did it that way so it's something I'm trying to avoid, mine's psychology based around poker luckily my tutor for it has done a lot of research into gambling, sports betting etc so he's going to be very useful for it.ResurrectionRooney wrote:Theo Filippo wrote:Yeah I got through it fine in the end, luckily I only had two exams too after doing a shitload of coursework over the year I plan to start my dissertation later on this summer before third year starts.

Re: Chat Thread
That sounds interesting, it's good to do one that people can relate to, especially in interviews. My housemate was really proud of his when he got a first and was asking people if they wanted to read it, unfortunately it was about the movement of rocks thousands of years ago so he found it difficult to get an audience.
It is incredibly rewarding when you get a good grade though, makes it all worth it.

I thought it was but some guy on the EA forums said he got a choice of doing either an extra module or a dissertation.El_indian wrote:what is it compulsory to write a dissertation in England?

Re: Chat Thread
Dissertations aren't compulsory for most degrees, some degrees don't even include the option. That said, most students do end up writing one; the extra module one has to take to make up for not doing a dissertation is pretty arduous - roughly a quarter of a normal year's work in lectures, seminars and coursework - and it's a valuable experience in itself, I've drawn on it in interviews.

I have 1500 due in in 6 days, then I have to finish my masters dissertation by September and I'm done.
I really don't want to leave it as late as the last dissertation, I'm gonna try and do steady bursts of work because the stress and pain that comes from cramming it in is pretty bad.

I understand that most of you are better with computers than I am.
My laptop battery light keeps on flashing on and off, ie one second it says it is charging, the next it says not charging. It does the same for other chargers. Is it a battery problem, or something in the little hole where I put the charger nozzle? What is the trick with removing the battery to determine this?

My laptop runs without a battery attached if it's plugged in. Does yours? Obviously if it does then just try seeing if it stays on without the battery.
If it doesn't then it will be quite hard to tell. If you have warranty, I wouldn't risk anything and I would just contact the manufacturer.

My battery has two little sliders on it, push them to the side and the battery pops out. It depends what make and model your laptop is though.
