Guys, need advice quick.
Any Murray 16/1 to win SPOTY
Is it worth putting a fiver on? I think he has a good chance. Who votes for SPOTY though?

Andy Murray will not win it, It's Mo Farah or Bradley Wiggins

Re: Chat Thread
Mo Farah was just a 2 week wonder though.
Murray was runner up at Wimbledon, got a Gold and Silver at the Olympics, and was the first British grand slam winner since Fred Perry
I hope the people who vote don't just vote with their Olympic tinted glasses on

I'd say he's worth betting on. Olympic gold and won another event- same as Bradley Wiggins.

I think only you could make winning gold in the 5,000m and the 10,000m sound easy.Forest wrote:Mo Farah was just a 2 week wonder though.

Fuck it. I put £5 on Murray. Potential returns of £85.
I'm hoping the first British grand slam winner in years will tip it

Shouldn't the personality award be for the best personality, not the athlete with the greatest accomplishments?

It isn't just about personality though. It's just a name they kept.

Wiggins seems to be the stereotypical, average Englishman, he should win.

Re: Chat Thread
Is Messi on the short list for overseas award? Surely it would be between him and Bolt?
Who do you think will win the Team Award? There hasn't been a football winner since Liverpool in 2001.

Maybe the stereotypical Victorian Englishman.

The overseas award is usually won by a tennis player.
Last footballer to win it was Ronaldo in 2002. The only other players to win it were Pele and Eusabio

Can't see a tennis player winning it this time, the top 4 all shared the Slams between them.

I just thought that the Mod haircut, the willingness to make fun of other cyclists, and the getting drunk immediately after finishing the Olympics represented the average Englishman well.George wrote:Glen Damon wrote:Wiggins seems to be the stereotypical, average Englishman, he should win.

Re: Chat Thread
Jess Ennis is so overrated looks-wise cos she got made out to be Britains golden girl at the Olympics. Great sports person, but nothing special in the looks department. She's pretty, but she wasn't even the best looking Briton in the Heptathalon.
