I'm not sure if I can get Microsoft Office on it and whether I can transfer documents easier?

Re: Chat Thread
I've contemplated getting an iPad on contract when I go to University.
I'm not sure if I can get Microsoft Office on it and whether I can transfer documents easier?

You can't get MS Office on it, but there is iWork.
I recommend a Microsoft Surface if you want to use it mostly for work.

Actually yeah, fuck that.
The Microsoft Surface looked so good! I guess there is integration with a Windows laptop too? I might be getting a Windows phone too, the Nokia Lumia 920 which would be awesome if I could somehow integrate them.
Would I have to buy two versions of Office, laptop and surface tablet?

They look a little less try-hard than Laptops, I'd feel a bit of a gimp with them.
With a tablet it can just be straight out on the table then put it into stand-by. As well as a boring lecture you could play some games

Glen, are you investing in a tablet?

I like the Surface, that takes it for me.
So awesome and stuff, I can do large amounts of work on there too which is awesome. I mean, how much is that holographic pad thing?

This thing looks fucking awesome, and comes with Office.
Ahly, do you know how Windows devices work with integration to other devices. i.e. Apple with iTunes and iCloud etc?

I got the iPad 1 ages ago, it still works brilliantly. I could never use it as my full-time, work related computer, but it is really handy for quick access to the internet.crump wrote:Glen, are you investing in a tablet?

Microsoft has SkyDrive. But it's probably not as good as iCloud or Google Drive. Need to read more about it.

Yes I agree. I do vouch that the 'Microsoft Surface' with this intergrated keyboard that clips on would be ideal for lectures and quick notes, or even in an internet cafe on the move. Because tablets have good stand-by battery life.

PC World, Currys, would avoid Comet like the plague for the time been.
I really like John Lewis though, my Mum got her Dell in there and they do good deals.

It's the Home & Student Edition of Office 2013. So it has Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and I think OneNote. It also has these...

Tablets aren't at the level of replacing your laptop yet, but it's heading that way. The Microsoft Surface is the closest thing to a laptop right now, imo. But sooner or later, you will end up switching to tablets like everyone else.

Is that a good laptop?
I hate fingerprint scanners, I had one on my old laptop, it was positioned exactly where I like to rest my hand.

I don't really see the need of a fingerprint scanner, but I've never had trouble resting my hand on one, because it's on the far right (It was a 15 inch model).

Mine was on the left, and i'm left handed, so my hand would rest on it.
