Williams lucky to not be sent off for Swansea. Holt was gonna be through on goal.

That's it for Swans then.
Williams getting negative points for my fantasy team, nice.

I want to see Stoke get in a Europa league spot. Would be funny to watch them playing against other European teams.

Yes, the 2012 season. They got through to the last 32 and had their anguses peppered by Valencia.

Re: Premier League thread
Oh I see. Could a football league team qualify for the Europa league then, or does that rule only apply to BPL teams?

Re: Premier League thread
I think so, Birmingham qualified by winning the Carling cup even though they got relegated in the same season.

I think Millwall got into Europe in 2003 when they got to the final.

Yup.Sean wrote:I think Millwall got into Europe in 2003 when they got to the final.
The only time a team can't get into Europe via however they got there is if a team wins the fair-play league and gets relegated in the same season. Blackpool gave up their position to Fulham because they went down.

Re: Premier League thread
So how many spots in total do England have for the Europa league? All this cup stuff is new info for me.

Three I think. Cup winners/runners up and 5th. Fair play gets a place if the cup winner/runner up are both in the champions league I think, but I could be wrong.

Re: Premier League thread
I always just assumed it was just 5th, 6th and 7th that got it because of Champions League qualification. So Liverpool got in last year from being FA cup runner ups. Then Spurs would get in from the 5th place spot (technically, though they finished 4th because of Chelsea) where did Newcastle get in? Or did Spurs just automatically get in and Newcastle got the 5th place spot?

Re: Premier League thread
I don't know, it's confusing.
I think Newcastle got one for 5th, Spurs got one for 4th. But then you have to ask what would happen if two unique teams won the FA and Carling cup (i.e. Stoke and Everton), where would the spots go? Would one get taken because of the Spurs/Chelsea situation, or would there be 4 teams in the competition? Someone probably knows better than me.

Re: Premier League thread
I'd probably say the runner-up wouldn't make it. That would make the most sense at least. Doesn't make sense for the 5th, and obviously not the 4th place team to not make it.

1-0 Spurs.
Dempsey's shot takes a huge deflection and loops over the head of Tim Howard.
