Mancini to Johnson: You're not that good

They need to place in the top 5 consistently to be considered a non-midtable team. Even if they finished first this season that would make their average finishing position 9.67 in 9 seasons which is still basically midtable. It will take them a while to shake that label in my opinion.

Who is Adam Johnson?

According to the English the Messiah and should start every game out wide. To others, a good young player, but very overrated.

Heh, funnily enough you could change 'Mancini' to 'Hodgson' and still have a relevant and truthful story..

That's probably the dumbest thing i've seen you say yet..
They will be a mid-table team until they do somethin.. won't all mid table teams be the same until they do something then? Or will some magically pop into the top 4 without doing anything?

And at that point, Mancini brings out the key to his first silverware closet. Points to FIFA World Cup Bronze Medal, two Serie A titles, six coppa italia titles, two supercoppa titles, two cup winners' cups, and a super cup. He then guides him to his next closet and points out four coppa italia titles, three Serie A titles, and two supercoppa titles. Then asks what the fuck Adam Johnson has done? hahaSean CFC wrote:Johnson to Mancini "and you are?"

Also, who sets how many seasons you find the average of to determine what you class a team as?
I mean, why do you use the average of 8 seasons to determine City are mid table?
Theoretically speaking, if you were to find the average of every season Chelsea had completed in the top division, and it came out that they averaged a 10th place finish. Would you call them a mid-table team?

Then Johnson says, your Italian, you cheated to win all those, so they don't count. Instant win for Johnson.

His Italian what? Mancini wins by Grammar Nazi execution. This kid can't be that good. I've never even heard of him and I do quite a bit of reading up on young talent.luke. wrote:Then Johnson says, your Italian, you cheated to win all those, so they don't count. Don't see much wrong in what Mancini is saying.
He's just telling the kid to keep his head down, that he's still young and to continue to work hard.
What's wrong with that?

How many mid-table teams are talking about winning the PL? One. Manchester City are the only mid-table team talking about challenging for a title.
There is nothing dumb about what I typed. I don't see the reason why you felt you needed to post when what I said is very obvious. Just another person that feels they need to quote me to attempt to start something.

This can't be a serious question because if it is, wow.
What would be the point in using seasonal finishes prior to the formation of the Premier League? Chelsea's place in the top division is completely irrelevant because it has NOTHING to do with the PL so why even bring it up as an example.

If Many City won three consecutive championships, would you still call them a mid-table team?

And how many years will it take for that to happen?
City are no where near the title

Do the math and you answer that question.

City'll win the league this season with their 10 man defence and Tevez scoring.
They'll probably actually win it now I said that with Tevez scoring 70 goals.

Um, well, theoretically, it could happen in 3.
That's not the point. It's a theoretical question. I'm trying to get a gauge of Arise's "mid-table" berometer.

If Manchester City has an average finishing place of 10.75 over the last 8 seasons and won three titles in a row that would bring their average position to 8.06 which would mean they are a top half team.

If you did the math then you wouldn't need to ask the question since the criteria on what mid-table means is very clear.

Actually, I don't see where you've given your criteria in particular. Is it an average finish of between 8th and 12th? 9th to 10th? 6th to 14th? What is it?

Fuck off, how much would their starting 11 would have changed, if they won it 3 times in a row they'd be champions.

I didn't see this post.
So what is "mid-table" then? Slap on 10th? Just one mid-table team per year? You're talking about halves now, which seems to be different. Because under that lingo, you're either top half or bottom half. Nothing else. How many sections are we dividing the table into? 3? (top, middle and bottom). 4? 5?
I've always considered mid-table to be about 8th to 12th (i.e. the middle section of the table).

Mid table's about 8th to 14th, depends on how far away you are from relegation at the end of the season if you finish around 15th for me
