Or maybe because the people bidding were knobs, and arrogant enough to believe they are actually the home of soccer.

Re: Decision Day: World Cup 2018/2022
The truth being that there hasn't been a World Cup in England since 1966? I can accept that. Instead, I think what can't be accepted is that the home of soccer is the world, and not England (Great Britain, United Kingdom, British Isles or whatever you fancy it as).
Once that can be accepted (doesn't seem possible at the moment), then it just might be possible that England is allowed to host soccer's biggest tournament again.

We are the home of football, anyone with half a brain will admit it.
Even Blatter will admit it.

Zidane wants Qatar for 2022. Quite an optimistic to be honest, doubt they'll get it.

He doesn't want Qatar to host it. He wants the money Qatar will pay him to say he wants it there...

England is the home of football.
If you move to another country you live under their rules, but you will always say your real home is where you were born. Even though you live in another country. Some wouldn't though, but they're gay.

Actually, the only joke in all this has been the English bid itself. It's been an amateurish catastrophy, and now they have to call Becks in to try to salvage it. The Triesman affair was the tipping point, in my opinion. If that didn't sink your chances all together, then there's another joke in all this: FIFA.

Exactly.
England is the birthplace of football. The world is it's home. And it's just a tad arrogant to claim any one country owns title to it.

He's not saying we own it. He's saying it like in my example.
Football was born in England. But it was destined for bigger things and moved to the whole world. But if you were to track football down he would say England is his real home.

Well, that's the difference between football and some guy named Jim, isn't it? Jim has a passport and a mailing address. Football doesn't. One is a game, the other is a person. Does football live, work, eat and sleep in England? Raise its kids in England? Vote in England? Pay taxes in England? Saying England is the birthplace of football is perfectly valid. Saying England is it's home is just rank jingoism.

Lol.....all of that was blown way out of proportion and meant nothing, it shouldn't have ANY affect on the bid.
What does what some idiot who resigns says have to do with a country hosting a World Cup? Nothing....the fact that we are the most capable of holding a World Cup is what's important.

I actually agree with Menalawyerguy, we do have a rather arrogent bid. It's not right to go around claiming football as ours because we invented it, football belongs to the world, its a global sport.

In all fairness, have you seen Qatar's bid? It's pretty impressive and I wouldn't be too surprised if Qatar sneak in and grab the rights to host the WC. The stadiums that they are going to build are just jaw dropping! Plus, I heard they are going to air condition the country during the tournament. The only thing that is holding them back is the fact Qatar has a shit national team in comparison to the potential WC contenders.

Eating a pork snack with your desert. I'd say that's disgusting, but only borderline gay.

How about you eat my shit?
How's our bid been a joke, and whats the problem with having one of the most famous men in the world (definartely the most famous sports person) as one of the heads of it?
It's a joke that England, the inventors of football (screw that shit that China came up with, that aint football) and the home of football hasn't hosted the biggest football tournament for 44 years (52 if we do get it in 2018)

We're the logical bid, we're the best bid. It should come to us, but it won't, simply because FIFA are corrupt..

To be fair, England hosting the world cup would be off the hook. I'd love to be in this country while the world cup was here. They'd put on a good show I'm sure of it.

Re: Decision Day: World Cup 2018/2022
I don't see a reason that we shouldn't have it, we haven't had it for ages, we have some of the best stadiums in the World, great facilities, better policing than most countries, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if it goes to one of the others.
I don't really care who gets it in 2022, the time-zone problem if it goes to Australia would be crap, but they have had to put up with it for years. USA had it in 94, it would stupid for it to go to USA twice in under 20 years.

2018 - 1994 = 24 years (not that we can win this one anyways).
2022 - 1994 = 28 years
Not sure how that makes it twice in under 20 years.
