That prick on the ground is a fuck head, needs to stop faking injury. Beckham should have got him in the face.

Typical. Beckham acts like a child and people defend him.
Cronin was already on his way up when the ball was kicked at him.

True, but you can not deny that he's making a lot more out of it than it actually is. I mean, the second he get hit by the ball he suddenly forgets he's in pain and runs up. Clearly not injured, or even sightly hurt, at all.

So what, he was rolling around like he was in pain then suddenly jumps up because a far superior being kicked a ball at him.Ché Guayaba wrote:Typical. Beckham acts like a child and people defend him.

If Beckham does it, it's fine if Barton does the same people will be calling for him to be bannedChé Guayaba wrote:Typical. Beckham acts like a child and people defend him.

What Barton did there should have been a penalty to Arsenal, assault in the box.

Point proven, Che.

Is that not a clear penalty? Last time I checked when you manhandle somebody in open play like that its a foul.

It's besides the point anyway Chris, that wasn't a penalty.. Gervinho was the disgusting man who assaulted justice fighter Joey, Beckham kicks the ball at someone for feigning injury.. good on him! Barton confronts Gervinho about his disgusting diving.. send him off!

I love how you use the word confronts for Barton then describe what Beckham done properly to make it sound worse.

In law, assault is a crime which involves causing a victim to apprehend violence. The term is often confused with battery, which involves physical contact. The specific meaning of assault varies between countries, but can refer to an act that causes another to apprehend immediate and personal violence, or in the more limited sense of a threat of violence caused by an immediate show of force.
Barton assaulted Gervinho in open play which is a foul.

We're done, apology accepted Chris.

Is that in the box? Because if so why are penalties given for pulling shirts?

We went through this on skype.. I do not apologize to your subjective rules and poor arguments.Theo Filippo wrote:

You're right, but the law of the land has nothing to do with it, the referee is not a police man. Most tackles would be assault by that definition.
It's a foul because Barton holds Gervinho in the box
Law 12
A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following three offences:
holds an opponent
spits at an opponent
handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
A direct free kick is taken from the place where the offence occurred (see Law 13 - Position of free kick).

You must be watching some other games than I am. Shirt pulling rarely result in a penalty, at least in the matches I've seen.

What? Penalties are meant to be given for shirt pulling and have been in the past..Laurencio wrote:kyro7 wrote:Is that in the box? Because if so why are penalties given for pulling shirts?

They are meant to, yes. But they are rarely given. Saw at least 10 incidents at the Euros of that happening.
I just find that referees ignore shirt pulling more often than not
Guest- Guest
Yes because referee's are shit, this is so far away from the point I'm making, the point I was making is if this is meant to be a penalty why would grabbing someone in the box not be a penalty? I know referee's don't implement the rule properly.Laurencio wrote:kyro7 wrote:What? Penalties are meant to be given for shirt pulling and have been in the past..Laurencio wrote:

Well that was all I was saying, they aren't given. Which is wrong, but they still aren't
Edit: I was just taking a dig at referees, not really directed at you.

That wasn't the point I was making by the way, it was the fact that Beckham can do anything and he gets praised for it and anything Barton does he should be executed (I would be in favour of this regardless).Chris wrote:Is that not a clear penalty? Glad he did it; hate that fake shit -- by the way this game was awesome, defending was crazy but a seven goal rivalry game with a nice crowd.
