Well for Denmark its easier just to do a short thing for each line i think, ofc overall a bit dissapointed going out but i think it was fair enough, we got a very tough group with 2 semi finalists and we still managed to stay in it until very late against Germany.
We still only have one striker with enough quality, Nicklas Bendtner. Krohn-dehli showed that he is certainly ready for something bigger, while Rommedahl might be finished after a season full of injuries which clearly didn't do him well during the tournament, perhaps Tobias Mikkelsen is the replacement, but it is very possible that Vikor Fischer the 18 year old Ajax youngster has a future in that area of the pitch, he seems to good to leave on the bench for a midfield spot. By 2014 we may also have Fiorentina's Kenneth Zohore ready for the national team who is 18 years old as well.
For the midfield our biggest problem may be the overused Christian Eriksen, way too many games with too little breaks for someone who is just 20 years old, 2nd-3rd most minutes played for Ajax this season only behind goalkeeper Vermeer as well as every qualification and before that u-21 Euro. For the defensive/central midfield an injury clearly bugged William Kvist and we do not have proper replacements for him or Zimling who had to play all the 3 games with a toe injury. Jakob and Christian Poulsen is just a level under, while one has decided to go to Ligue 2 for the future the other is undecided both most likely staying in Ligue 1, we have a player that could be the future but that isn't relevant until 2016.
For the defense it looks better, Simon Poulsen is still clearly the emergency backup for left back, all our faith lies in Nicolai Boilesen who sadly has been plagued by injuries since a match against PSV last September, while there are alternatives they are Superliga quality players and against the 3 teams we faced this tournament, well the other teams would have turned our left side into more of a joke than it ended up being against Portugal and Germany. Agger and Kjær showed that when they are in form they are world class, especially the on field captain were perhaps our most important player, we would simply have been crushed without his actions in each of the group games.
As for the goal a bit of luck hit us in the form of Sørensen's injury, he had not been good but Morten Olsen would much rather stick with experience than form in most cases, something that has gone against us before quite a few times. Our 2nd in line keeper Lindegaard had been injured and didn't have much form to show, so Stephan Andersen stepped up and were impressive, highly rated by critics and perhabs one of the bigger surprises. Easily shut down the talks about Lindegaard the Manchester United goalkeeper taking first choice in front of Ligue 1 club Evian's Stephan Andersen, with the outstanding performance against Netherlands as well as some impressive saves in the 2 matches we lost, couldn't do much against any of the goals against us. Then being able to take in Kasper Schmeichel and still have some promising young keepers in the home league leaves the situation better than it has been since the Great Dane was our last man.
